Ok, it's on the last blade, under settings. You'll see VIDEO SETTINGS, go there and look for HDTV settings. There you can change to 720p and 1080i, etc. Try that and see if it works.

Ok, tried it but all it did was make my screen blank and restarted my xbox....

Let's see, I'll try and explain how my TV works: whenever i switch from input to input on my tv, it always indicates what input (component) is active on the right hand corner of my screen. Example: when I turn it to input 1 (component 1) (which is for my 'regular' cable) it will say "TV".....component 2 (which is for my HDTV cable) it will say "1080i"....Now, component 3 (where i hooked up my xbox360)- if i have the switch on the xbox360 cables switched to "TV", the component on the TV reads "480i". But when I switch the switch on the xbox360 cables to "HDTV", it reads "out of range" and I get no picture, just sound. During this whole process I have my game in (CH2k6)...not sure if that matters or not.

Any suggestions on what my problem could be? I can get to the system settings just fine, but whenever I set the xbox to HDTV, it just restarts my xbox and all i get is a black screen....

if u have a friend with a premium 360, ask to borrow his hdav cables and try them... usually the blackscreen plus sound makes it seem like your TV can't downscale the 1080i that u have it set at... try and set the xbox to 720p (which seems to be your native resolution)... if that doesn't work, borrow someone's hdav cable... if THAT doesn't work then i don't even know what else i could tell ya... good luck

It sounds like your 3rd input is not an HDTV Input. Anytime you get the "Out of Range" message, that's because that INPUT is not designated for an HDTV signal. Even though the INPUT color coding maybe/is Red-Green-Blue..

Question, Why do you have your cable running via 2 different inputs? This shouldn't be unless your using 2 different providers. You don't need to use 2 INPUTS for your Digital Cable. Your cable box will make the changes internally when switching from SDTV to HDTV.

If your not using 2 different providers, then your cable should be using only 1 input.(INPUT-1)If so then connect your 360 to INPUT-2 & see what happens?

Ok, I have a comcast HDTV cable box hooked up to the back of the TV in the hdtv connections (red, green, blue connections)....When the TV is on, it will be on one of 7 inputs (components)--TV, S-Video, Component 1 (this is where my comcast box is hooked up), Component 2 (where i TRIED to hook my xbox up to), Component 3, DVD, and PC. When I have it on "TV", I get the same ol' regular picture you get from a tube TV, same comcast channels and all. When I have it on Component 1 (a pop up appears that reads Component 1 1080i)...that is where I get my HD picture. I get the same channels and stuff just with better (clearer) picture...it is then when I can turn to the HD channels (like ESPNHD) and experience HDTV. I can still turn it to regular ESPN and get a clearer picture than i would with the "regular TV input", but not HD. --sorry if i sound too simple minded, but im totaly new to this stuff-- ......

I have tried to unhook the Comcast box in Component 1 and connected my xbox in that component, but when I do that, then THAT is when I get the black and white picture....I'm going to try again tonight to check the xbox settings (on the xbox dashboard) because I did not try it with Component 1.....just tried it with Component 2 where I get the "out of range" pop up message or (if I have the xbox switch to "TV") i get the Component 2 480i...the picture is clear with that but it can't be what I'm looking for is it? I don't know whats a 480i or 1080i or 720p????? I just wanted to see 1080i pop up on my screen when i turned on my xbox...right?

K_rob, I suggest you get a Component Selector. This device allows you to connect up to 4 Component Devices via 1 Component Input. This will allow you to connect your HDTV Cable & your 360 all via INPUT-1.

Here's 1 you can get for a descent price:
