need help with xbox 360 contoller and PC

Im tryingto use my 360 contoller on my pc games, I have a wireless controller hooked to my pc with the play and charge kit. is this a no go or should it work? im trying t install it but it just wont locate the software. ive dloaded the software from microsoft but it installs and never works. Im thinking that maybe only hard wired controllers can be used. any help would be greatly appriciated.

The wireless controller will not work with the PC, it has to be the wired controller.

thanks man. guy at comp usa told me itd work with the play and charge usb thing, but i was assuming that it didnt work with all th trouble i was having.. thanks again bro

I think at some point they are going to sell a wireless reciever you can plug into your pc so that the wirless controllers work.

Yeah, that guy had no idea what he was talking about. The wireless controller still runs wireless even though the play & charge kit is plugged in. It only charges the controller, nothing else.

The play and charge kit does not transmit the controller signal, only recharges the battery. While you're using it, your controller signal is still transmitted wirelessly.
