Re: Anyone else only buy 2-3 games a YEAR?

I always get Madden, nba2k, college hoops 2k and shooter like a Halo/COD2 game every year. But I ventured off and tried different things like I bought World Cup Soccer and i am having a blast with it.

Not too long ago I bought a ps2 just to have on a regular tv in my room and I'mve had a ton of fun with games like God of War and Resident Evil 4 and ton of games at like 5, 10 bucks a pop.

      $120+ a month on games?

Gym memberships cost less than that.

Something tells me that someone who spends 120 bones per month on games and actually plays all of them isn't too concerned with fitness -- or is single and has no kids ...

It's not bad to me. That's about what I spend. I don't drink, and don't smoke. I'm sure some of you have spent $30-$40 in one trip to the bar easily. Do that a few times a month, and we're even.

My wife and I eat at home a lot, and this is my hobby, form of entertainment. For me, $60 for 10 hours at the least of enjoyment is cheap. You pay $10 per person if you go to a movie theater, and that's for 2 hours.

yeah, it's kinda similar to how people say "How can you spend 10 or 15 bucks a month for WoW" or some other MMORPG. When I was playing those, you can put in so many hours that it's very worth it. Not into them anymore, but gaming's a hobby, just like upgrading your car, and other things that cost money.

I feel the same way, I spend my expendable money on games and dvd's. My wife and I can't go out much since we have 3 kids, so I need to enjoy myself somehow since we can't go to bars and movies like we used to before the kiddies came along. Like EG also mentioned that he doesn't smoke, I don't either and that is one expensive habit if you ask me.

Re: Anyone else only buy 2-3 games a YEAR?

I had to purchase a few new games in my ps2 to XBox conversion, but usually I just by the College Hoops game and then a football game. I always got the 2k series for football, so that left an opening last fall (and I made the system switch). I just got a DS Lite, so I've got to get a mini-library there, but I'm starting to find something out that I don't really like....

                I'M GETTING OLDER!!!

I just got married last summer, bought a house the summer before that, and my attention span to play a football game is minimal at best. I rented NCAA 06 this weekend, and I can't get past the first quarter. I can get through a basketball game because of the constant movement, etc.

Now, it's just puzzle games with the wife on the DS. That's where the new games will go I have a feeling.

It just feels weird. I'm tempted by NCAA 07 out today, but I don't know if it'll be worth it....to me.

I see cheating wives/gf in the future, unless your wife/gf is unattractive.

I have 4 kids and I go work, play games, play basketball and workout.

If I dont keep my stamina up, my girl isnt gonna be too happy in the future.

But I cant see how you justify spending that much a month on video games.

anyone quite like me.. and what 2-4 games do you end up getting?

i dont feel like quite the gamer i used to be and maybe hold my expectations too high as these are my only buyers. maybe one of my downfalls.
Yep I'm like you. The past 2 years I've only been getting about 2 games a year. NCAA and then some other random game. Thing is I've lost interest in video games so much I can't even spend my own money on it. So I've begun a tradition of having someone buy me NCAA for my birthday since its in July and then another game at Christmas.

I usually buy ncaa, then madden (play it for few weeks, then give up), nba 2k, a squad based shooter (GRAW or something), and then Winning Eleven. In the end, I play Winning Eleven about 90% of the time (if not more). As i get older, and with a son now, I find I would rather just play the one game that I get most enjoyment out of. I still go out and buy about 5-7 games a year, but realistically i should only buy 3: winning eleven, NCAA and nba 2k.

I'm in the same boat. While I got Madden 2006 for Christmas I typically only get one football game. I just bought NCAA 2007 and I also bought MLB The Show this year. Those will probably be the only two games I will get. I got College Hoops 2K6 last Christmas too but that will be enough to hold me over this year as well since I don't play it much. Its a great game but I usually just play around tourney time or as a multiplayer game.

                        Purchases this year:
                        MLB The Show
                        NCAA 2007

Don't plan on getting anything else.

it's my hobby, so i definately don't mind investing in it... the same way i don't mind investing in studio equipment. I have my priorities in order and i know when i can and can't spend money on video games...

I typically buy, NCAA Football, Madden, a college basketball title, a baseball title, an NBA title, every year, and then maybe one random game.

But now that I am on the 360, I might be branching out.

I used to buy games a lot more. In the last year (NCAA 2006-NCAA 2007), the only games I've bought are CH2k6, RE4, MVP baseball, Obvlvion, FEAR, and NCAA 07. CH and MVP were $25 or so, so I've only bought 4 fully priced games.

I've only bought a single game in 2006 - NFL Blitz for $10 at CC.

I still have a backlog of games that I haven't played.

Why? My NFL 2K5 league is about all I need.
Plus, I'm an attorney who works about 70 hour weeks, am married, and own a very athletic dog. With this next-gen console launch looking like the worst start to a console generation ever, I've been laying back with 2K5 and doing other things like burning my huge ECW tape library to DVD. hahahaha
Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!
