Who cares? When I was a kid I'd leave my NES, Genesis, whatever on while I went to school sometimes or over night because there was no game save feature. I've done the same with my PS2 and Gamecube during strategy games where I couldn't save mid-battle. Your 360 will be fine.

Ahh, that's why the Xbox has a nice Auto-Shut Off feature after 6 hours of inactive play.

I want to say that nothing's going to happen, but that's how my PSX was ruined. Well, I don't think that it was ruined as much as the laser just shorted out on me (which, in turn, I'd have to get a new one). I don't think anything will happen, though.

You're just lucky your house didn't catch fire! :y4:

My wife constantly puts little kid movies in and uses it as a DVD player...then leaves it on all day long and forgets about it. I have a launch system with no Intercooler or any of that crap. I just leave it on a well-ventilated shelf and I play the hell out of it. I have yet to have a problem with it (knock on wood). Forgetting about it for a day won't kill you. If it was a problem, you'd know it already...like the red ring of death.

You have an Xbox, not a 360, right? It's tough to say, you never really know. But there isn't anything you can do about it now.

I used to leave my regular Xbox on all the time, sometimes upwards of 12+ hours, all the time.

I doubt it, I've left my original xbox on for about a day before. A while back a friend of mine and myself busted out the old SNES to play through Zelda in one sitting, neither of us could really remember anything about where stuff was or how to do stuff so it took 16 hours, thing still works after I got it in 1992 and was still able to go strong non-stop for 16 hours!

Yeah Nintendo builds great systems that are designed to work and be trouble free. My Gamecube goes back to 2001 and i've never, never had a problem or lockup in 5 years. I can say the same for my N64, GBA, SP, and DS.

Dang...my wife does the exact same thing. I work nights, and I can't count the times I've come home to find Dora's Pirate adventure or Fairytopia has been on the menu screen since I left for work 8 hours ago....

Maybe I am an idiot but I have left my PS2 running for 2 or 3 days at minumum before. I have had it for atleast 2 or3 years if not longer. and I leave it on for a long period of time often. Anyway hope it continues to work.

I left my first Xbox, with a Thomson drive, on for six hours in pause once when I fell asleep. It was fried when I woke up.

I think that if your box still works after being on 19 hours, you should be OK. Might not be the greatest thing for the longevity of the system, but short- and medium-term, you should be OK.

Do you know what kind of drive your Xbox has? Did you buy it in the last two years? If so, you have a Samsung or Hitachi drive, and you should be OK.

If it's a launch or first-year Xbox with a Thomson drive, you might have reason to be a bit afraid. But some launch systems, like TCrouch's, work just fine. Ventilation and cleanliness around the unit go a long way, as Terry said.

My slim ps2 was left on all night on the CARPET, good thing there was no disc in it. I have banned my family from using it since it's happened before with disc spinning.

You guys are insane. The currentgen and nextgen systems are basically computers. Computer should actually be left on and shouldn't be constantly shut down and rebooted. That's actually harder on systems then leaving them on. Now, how that translates to video games systems... that's a good question. I used to leave my xbox on for weeks at a time, without any issues.

In my mind though, the issues would be that a computer uses very little when just idling, and a video game system, if not paused, would probably be continually processing intros/etc and constantly looping. So I can see that as additional wear and tear.

Regardless, it's no big deal to leave your systems on a couple days, whatever. I have done this on all of my systems and have never had any problems... I've had everything since intellivision... ok, not the Sega Saturn though...... I'm not insane you see!

Don't stress it, just use common sense. With the 360 seemingly potentially having some heating issues, I'd probably make sure it was ventilated well though. Obviously with machines we invest in, we want to make sure they last as long as possible

Do what you must but don't kill yourself or your wife for leaving it on a little bit. All will be well!

you should set it to turn off if left idle for 6 hours
