    Re: Tested Connection.NAT says "Moderate"

You need to go into your router configuration and open up the ports that XBL uses.

The ports are: 88 and 3074

You'll need to check your router for information on how to do this.

joeboo, what is the trigger type & public type? are they both to be TCP, UDP, or both?

When I set it up, I set both ports to Both. That worked for me.

If you want to be more secure, I think port 88 only needs TCP and port 3074 is both.

Not sure then. When NAT says moderate it states that because you're able to partially connect and translate. Something isn't allowing it to go through unobstructed. That usually signals a port issue on your router. If not that, maybe it's your ISP?

Yep. Just make sure you're forwarding to the IP address that's set on your 360. If you're using DHCP and not static IP's, that IP might've changed.

How do you check the IP on the 360? Is it the same one that the router uses?

No, the router ypically uses 192.168.1.1 (this depends on model and manufacturer).

The IP on the 360 can be found by going into the dashboard, system tab, network settings and edit settings.

I entered a static IP (permanent) and made sure that IP wasn't in the DHCP scope on my router. That way the IP on the 360 never changes.

you need to update your firmware. thats what i had to do. do to your routers website, and there should be instructions on how to update the firmware.

cosign. That fixed mine for me a couple of weeks ago. Now, I can actually play against pretty much anyone in NBA 2K6, instead of having to try about 5 people before I can get a game going.

All of the stuff you all posted just confused the Sh*t out of me.

I always seem to think my XBL connection is slow, so let me state to you geniouses what I have, I have Verizon DSL, and the Modem run to my Wireless router.

                            Wireless router is a Linksys Wireless - B 2.4 GHz 802.11b Model # BEFW11S4

My Microsoft Wireless Adapter took a dump, so I have an Ethernet cord running from my Wireless Router Port 1 directly to the back of my 360.

                            My son also has a Linksys Wireless B USB Network adapter - B 2.4GHz 802.11b Model # WUSB11 ver 2.6

Sometimes his connection drops, but I know how to fix that myself.

I just need to know the step by steps needed to ensure a quicker connection to my 360 (assuming I need it).

                            Thanks in advance guys.
