best place for 360 instore warranty?

ive only called bestbuy and got a weird response.

he said its 40 bucks for two years for the product replacement. i asked, what if the system messes up twice in that time. he said the orginial warranty is good for all future replacements within that time span of 2 years. which means i could get a brand new xbox every week or even every month. im almost positive he's lying here just trying to make a sale or is confused.. can someone clarify the bestbuy warranty for the 360, if anyone has it. or explain another companies, so i can shop elsewhere

that makes little sense to me. is it that true or should i take my business elsewhere?

    That sounds wrong

Gamestop is 40 dollars for a year..if it dies within the year, you need 40 more dollars to get a full year again

I believe he would be correct.

I went through a couple PS2's but had my instore warranty from them and they replaced them both.

But before you go through the purchase, just make sure about the rules in case they've changed it.

That's why I always get my big electronic purchases from places like Best Buy or Circuit City.

Ruben what he's saying is flat out BS. I've explained the Best Buy extended warranty policy here on several occasions.

        Here it is:
Best Buy will replace your defective system as many times as it breaks under the manufactures warranty (90 Days Xbox 360). If it breaks 7 times you walk out with a new system each time.

After the 90 day warranty you are "ONLY ALLOWED 1 INCIDENT". If you bring back your broken PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3 they will exchange it one time and you will "HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER EXTENDED WARRANTY AGAIN".

At that point you start the clock all over again. If it breaks 5 times within 90 days you go home with a new system each time. Ater the 90 days you'll have only 1 chance to bring back your system and you can elect to get your money back in full plus tax, or get a BB Gift Card or you can get another system.

If you elect not to buy another extended warranty if it breaks it's your loss, not there's.

It's a 2 year BB warranty and it starts on day 1 of your Xbox 360 warranty.

The PSP or Ninetendo DS/Lite are different as they all come with a 1 year Warranty so you can bring back your defective system as many times during the first year. On the 366 day you are allowed only one incident per warranty purchase.

I just got a 360 off Ebay today, and I'm kind of worried about it after firing it up for the first time.

So I can still go somewhere and get them to give me a warranty on it? Even though I bought it off Ebay?

you should be able to buy one from Microsoft. If its still sealed, there will be a card in the box to contact them. If not, call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. It was like $60 for 2 years, I think.

It doesn't because it follows the original purchase of that system. That's why when you take it back to BB you'll watch them staple a new receipt to your original one.

That's how they track the original serial number with the purchase. If you return to the store 5 times within 90 days you'll have 6 receipts (Original Receipt plus 5 Exchanges). They track the warranty cycle that way. Once the 90 day warranty period is over the system will allow only "ONE MORE EXCHANGE".

If you bring back your system on the 91st day and ask for an exchange you'll get another system and they'll usually "ASK YOU TO PURCHASE ANOTHER WARRANTY".

If you purchase another warranty the clock starts at Day 0 as if you just walked in the store for the first time.

@ Thrasha you right it use to be that way but I guessed they realised people were cheating the system.

Ruben the best deal is the one Microsoft offers but it sounds like it's a crap shoot whether you get a new one or a refurb. I like having a brand new system cause I take care of my stuff.

rodster you need to work at bestbuy lol. thanks

lets say on day 91 you use the xbox extended warranty and get the new system. at that point, could you simply use that systems 90 day warranty as the last "backup" or am i basically asking you the same thing as before

LOL no because because all the serial numbers were tracked each time you exchanged the system. Once the 90 day period expires you get only one more chance. Btw the only reason I know so much about BB is because I knew how to work the system.

p.s. I couldn't work for anybody, that's why I run my own business.

Like I've said before, the MS warrenty is the way to go. I got 3 years of service for 60 bones. They repair/replace everything and anything.
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

                              Yeah i have a question about warranty's...

I bought a 2nd launch system, around dec/jan, and after all these horror stories ive read everywhere i think i need to get a warranty and have the peace of mind while using it.

I was wondering though, since i have had it for around 6 months if i could still buy a warranty. If i can could u please tell me where... and i read that post before, 1-800-4MYXBOX. I just don't know if thats for a system that has been used before...

                              Thx for your help!
