xbox360 advice for a ps2 user.

OK ive always been a playstation user. Bought Ps1, bought Ps2, but never bothered with the xbox. I was intrieged when I heard about xbox360, but I always just kept my sight on ps3. Now playing the demo of xbox360 at target was absolutly amazing. Im posting this because I play a lot of ps2 but I hardly ever follow the websites to know the inside info on xbox360 or ps3. SO if anyone could kindly answer some of my questions (looking for both xbox users and playstation users opinions)

*Is it worth is to wait for a ps3 or should I just fork out the money for 360 without any regret?

*Is the short lifespan true about the 360?

*Is there an official date, price or estimate about these for the ps3?

*Whats the biggest complaints about the xbox 360 (pros and cons)?

thanks in advance for anyone who replies, im considering going out and buying one this week or next but im not completly sold and am nurvious about exactly what im getting when forking out all this money when I dont have all that much of it to go around as it is.

*That all depends... if you can afford to buy all next gen systems @ some point this generation, then go for it... they will offer exclusive games that the other systems won't have (like Gears Of War & Halo 3 for 360, MGS4 & Final Fantasy for example) I bought a 360 and don't have any regrets... been enjoyin it since Launch but that's me.


*I don't know about short lifespan... it depends I guess... I bought my 360 and launch and had a few lock ups here and there, but it never broke down on me and it's still goin strong.. 8 months and counting


*November 17th, 2006.. $599.99 for the Premium version (60 GB HDD, HDMI, WiFi), $499.99 for the basic version (20 GB HDD, no HDMI, no WiFi)


*For now... the only complaint I have is that the games aren't coming quick enough... but the Fall season seems promising with the waves of titles that will be coming...

hmm interesting, well i definatly am leaning toward getting one.

I dont play many games I usually only play sports games like Madden, NBA2k6, MVP baseball 2005 (which if i bought for xbox i could play on the 360 right?) smackdown vs Raw (which is coming out for 360, right?) and sometimes NCAA.

would it be a good investment for just a sports gamer?

I think the bigger question is will the PS3 offer more value or quality than what's all ready being offered on the 360, XBL included. If Rumble is a big deal like as it is for me, forget cause it's not in the PS3 plans right now.

My overall gaming experience factoring XBL has been fantastic. As for reliability questions, some have had problems but the majority have not. I have a launch 360 and it has been flawless. But with any new peice of technology always buy an extended warranty. Always use common sense when setting up your new system.

Keep in mind the PS1, PS2 and Xbox had their share of problems and I don't see the PS3 breaking that trend. If you want an almost guaranteed troublefree system consider a Nintendo system.

Easy choice, pick the 360..Unless you want to waste 200 more dollars on PS3.

PS3 madden will be the same as madden 360, so itll be stripped down and pretty bad like the 360 version.

Go with the 360..they are further down the line and are starting to add features..

YES and it's been cancelled for the PS3.

Since I dont play much if at all online should I get a core system with a memory card? or should I just get the more expensive one with all the harddrive and online stuff?

well it depends... even if i didn't get on Live.. i'd still get the premium... silver accounts can still get system updates & download demo's. Silver can basically do everything Gold can, except Silver doesn't allow you to play online with friends (but u don't do that anyhoo so i don't think that should be a problem)

I dont know the difference between silver, gold primium or any of that. I was just playing the demo at target and saw 2 for sale...the core system and the premium system.

I'd still get the Premium. Some make the mistake of associating Live with online play only and it's not. There are more reasons to get XBL, The Marketplace where you can buy game enhancements, "YOU CAN TRY DEMOS FOR FREE", you can also download and purchase Arcade games. To do all of this you need a Hard Drive.

If you want to download Movie Trailers or listen and watch Music Videos or as some did this year watch E3 via XBL. I've only played one game online and to me XBL is a must have.

I forgot who but a major retailer is selling a 12 month Gold membership for $19.99, if anyone is interested i'll try and find the link.

IM going to wait for madden ofcourse since it comes out aug 22 (not going to buy the old one), but kinda dissapointed I wasted 20 bucks on wrestlemania 21 and find out after i open it and put the disc in, that its not compatitable.

well the main lure that got me to buy the 360 was smackdown vs raw coming to it in november. So i cannot wait for it. The countdown they do on ign is going to feel like torture.

Yep, game was total crap. Smackdown vs. Raw 07 will own my soul in November on the 360.
