Why no sound when using VGA adapter?
My line in isnt muted. I connected both the white and red plugs to the Y adapter and connected that to the slot on the back of my PC. That didn't work. Tried speakers, that didn't work.

Re: Why no sound when using VGA adapter?
Why are you plugging your red & white outputs into your computer? Are you trying to record sound?
Doubtful, so I'll assume you just want to hear sound. If this is the case then you will need to buy a female RCA y cable or adapter (female on both ends) that has red & white plugs to connect directly to your computer speakers. -

My guess is he is trying to run his 360 through his computer monitor. Can't offer any help on how to accomplish it with sound though.Comment

EDIT- Try using a coupler. Connect red and white to the y-adapter, y-adapter to coupler, then plug the speakers into the coupler. That should work. Check radioshack. They are mad cheap.Last edited by laforr77; 08-14-2006, 02:38 PM.Comment

Re: Why no sound when using VGA adapter?
Plug the red and white cord into the gray one, then plus the gray cord into your PC's line in port. Then it should work.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

Re: Why no sound when using VGA adapter?
Guys, I mentioned that I made sure the line in settings were not muted. I don't know what's going on at all.
I put the red and white cords into the y thing, then put the y thing into the slot on the back of my pc.Comment

Re: Why no sound when using VGA adapter?
Originally posted by mgoblueman, sounds like you've tried everything...stupid question, but just want to make sure, you are using the line in and not the microphone, right? I've accidently plugged it into the wrong one before and it didn't work. Otherwise I'm really at a loss
And it's not like the line in doesn't work, cause my speakers work when i put them in there.
Oddly enough, when I plug the Y adapter to my speakers, it doesn't work either.Comment
