Are there any options other than the 360 wireless adaptor to connect the 360 to my network, becuase if I can help it i really rather not plunk down 100 more bones onto the 360 i just bought for the adaptor.

This linksys wireless adapter is B, not G, but it's pretty cost effective.

In fact, I paid 24 bucks for it last month - now it's going for only 19. It should be fast enough to work. I bought it for my slingbox, and it works great.

It was a little tricky to set up, but I got it working within 5 minutes.

So you use this with your 360. How is the setup?

I am worried about it being B, how does it affect the speed of downloads and whatnot?

      Second opinion from someone?

Do I have to change my settings of my wireless network to B for this to work?

        What have other people done?

I haven't tried it with my 360 though, but it was first put out to be used with the Xbox. Usually most G routers work with B networking equipment - there shouldn't be any additional configuring with your router anyway.

I have a B router, but I tried one of my USB B adapters at my friends house who has a G router. No problems, no configuration at all.

Sure B is slower than G - 11Mbps vs. 54 Mbps, but I've done some research on this wireless adapter and some people's opinions at cnet.com (under their reviews for the product) say it works better than some G adapters. If you're concerned about speed, you just have to consider it as a trade-off to spending upwards of 80 bucks or more on other products.

As for configuring the wireless adapter itself, it has software that allow you to set it up so that it directly connects to the internet - it has 1 button on it that lets you switch it between channels (as indicated by its LED display) so that if you have 2 adapters, you just set them to the same channel to play wireless LAN games between consoles. If you want to connect directly to the net, you have to set it for infrastructure. It was a little confusing at first, but there's not that many ways you can configure it anyway.

If you decide to save some money and try this one out, I'd be happy to help you set it up if you have some problems. Just PM me and maybe we could set up an IM chat or something.

Thanks for your help. For now I am going to hold off and look into my connections at the big M for the 360 adaptor.

If you do use it with your 360 tell me how it goes.
