I can't believe an editor from the Official PlayStation Magazine decides to get an Xbox 360 over a PS3:

That means nothing, just because you work for a company doesn't mean you have to buy it's product.

Secondly, to me, that "Blog" is nothing more than getting people stirred up, if she works for OPM, why make a blog complaining about the PS3 price and buying a 360, but why wait till November to buy it, just buy it now? Just makes no sense.

Like she stated, so many games are multiplatform now. Ever year there are less and less games that are exclusive to one console. So why not buy the cheaper console? Makes sense to me.

I've been saying that for the longest time that multi-platform is the way of the future for Microsoft and Sony. Games cost way tooooo much unless the system has a huge user base you spread it out over several machines to get your money back.

Everything she said in her blog is how I feel about the 360. That's why I chose the cheaper of the two. I have NO interest in HD-DVD or BRay, don't need it, don't want it, don't make me pay for it.

Heck after the price of the ps3 was announced it sealed the deal. I bought my 360 and so far I love it. I will buy a wii. I can get 2 next gen consoles for about the same cost of the PS3... To me in my situation it really is a no brainer. I wanted the Wii but if I got the Ps3 I couldn't afford that much especially after games and such.

She just said what a bunch of people believe, as not everyone loves the whole forced bluray part of the ps3. It wont be too long until bluray players will be around $200 and will offer better things than the PS3 playback wise. So actually Sony is forcing us to buy a blu ray reader even if standalone players will be much cheaper probably within a year.

If you need to defend flaws of a console soon to launch, its obviously gonna have trouble getting past the early adaptors and into the hands of the average folk. A $400 PS3 would have been gold around holdiay time.

I tend to agree. She's also kind of stupid, because if the PS3 fails she loses her job, though I don't think her blog has that much pull.

Just reading it, yeah, the 360 makes sense for her. Obviously she won't need a Blu Ray player and she doesn't seem like the type who will need extra gigs for her HDD. Even if she wants a wireless adapter a 360 will cost her around $500. For the more hardcore audience, the extra space on the HDD drive and the wireless adapter should pretty much negate the price difference between the two high end models from each company.

While multi-platform is among the majority, let's not forget about what Microsoft Game Studios is doing. They are putting out some huge titles in the near future. Mass Effect alone looks to be amazing.

Well, even if the PS3 fails, I'm sure someone qualified enough to be named editor of the Official Playstation Magazine wouldn't have much trouble getting a job elsewhere. You have to remain objective if you're going to get any respect as a journalist.

I'm not surprised. The general tenor of the PS3 vs. 360 issue of OPM was surprisingly objective, as was the one in PSM. Any honest gamer/non fanboy would have to have at least some reservations.

This is a chicks blog. Of course she doesn't care about picture or sound quality. Without being too sexist I find it amazing when females are so entrenched in the video game industry. I'm blown away when I walk into an EB and there is a girl standing behind the counter.
