    Microsoft Shares Strong X360 Stats

Microsoft has offered some new statistics on the Xbox 360 and the popularity of its Live Marketplace service.

According to Microsoft, since the release of popular titles like Prey, Chromehounds, and The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II the number of games the average X360 owner owns rose to 4.6 per console. The company also claims that the console has the highest accessory attachment rate with 2.9 units sold per console.

Currently, about 60% of X360 owners subscribe to Xbox Live. Of those users, 80% have downloaded content from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Not quite 70% of Live subscribers have downloaded music videos, movie, and game trailers. Xbox Live Arcade draws users, too. About 65% of Live users have downloaded at least one game from the library. The most popular games are Geometry Wars, Uno, Bankshot Billiards 2, Marble Blast Ultra, and Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting. Currently, Microsoft boasts 46 million downloads through this service, 8 million of which arcade titles.

Although Microsoft didn't share just how many X360 consoles have been sold, it did restate its goal of shipping 10 million units by the end of 2006. The company seeks to ship more than 13 million consoles by June 2007.
