Anyone try Test Drive Unlimited ?

I just downloaded the new Test Drive Unlimited demo. All I can say is especially after 1up.com reemed the game for being a revolutionary MMO Racing game with poor car control and horrible framerates.

Well I can say this, that based on the new demo I am buying this game at launch.

The framerates are very good but stutters a little bit when driving certain corners but never real bad. The FPS are much better than NFSMW on the 360.

All the cars look beautiful in the garage as well as on the road. Ingame graphics are solid as well. Handling is pretty good as well. All in all TDU has made some major strides since the last demo.

Isn't it only $39.99? I will not buy it, but I will definetly rent if from GameFly.

I'm looking to NFS Carbon more than this.

Hear that they have a very well thought out plan for the DLC where they'll toss you all types of cars and you buy the ones that interest you. I'm downloading it now.

PrimeTime23, what exactly excites you about NFSC?? The previews seem so lacking. Maybe it's just me but I couldn't get that into what I heard from it.

Hear that they have a very well thought out plan for the DLC where they'll toss you all types of cars and you buy the ones that interest you. I'm downloading it now.

The more I play TDU the more impressed I am with the game. I stopped by the Lambo dealership and too bad I didn't have any money cause I felt that ride.

The Island they mapped out looks very detailed and has sharp graphics.

Have you tried the new demo (aka 2nd version) that was released this week? I agree and countless others have said the first demo played god awful. This new one is sweet.

Wow I wouldn't say your weird but it amazes me on a gamers preference of what they like about a racing game since it's my favorite genre.

Truth be told I never played the first demo because it got ripped.

In a nutshell what did you like about demo#1 that you don't like about demo#2?

I must admit this game has me intrigued because I don't think this has ever been done before. A WoW racing game who would've thought.

I don't know hoestly, it could be the fact I played demo 1 back in May and gave it the benefit of the doubt.

I love the idea, and think the graphics are very good (not outstanding, but good). I think the cars control horribly, CPU assist on or not. There seems to be nothing to do but drive around, no online structure, which bugs me. I want to like it, but it's been hard. I'll give the demo another chance.

I see your point and you should give it another try. The best description I could give this game is:

1/3 parts = Toyko Xtreme Racer
1/3 parts = World of Warcraft MMO
1/3 parts = Need for Speed

Your description about driving around aimlessly is accurate because it's primarily an online game. So you form groups of racers i.e like if say 10 OS racers decided to form a team and you went out looking for other Rival Racing gangs on XBL.

I bet when you playing this game on XBLive it's going to be one wild ride, no pun intended.

But I read a preview at either ign or gamespot where it talked about giving the player tasks to do (small missions/buying so they aren't just driving around or just racing. None of that stuff is in the demo?

Just a kick update boy and girls. This game is a freaking blast on XBL I still have not been able to figure out how to create a race which is a MP bummer

I really didn't like the game demo. I kind of agree with the group on the 1up Yours podcast. I think it was Garnett who said the tires aren't taken into effect, which seems to be the case. The control in this game is horrendous. I have to say that I love the fact that I'm on this big island because it feels so vast and real. It's just that it's kind of poor in presenting itself to me. I don't like its presentation that much and the car handling is one of the worse I've played in a while. I tried but it wasn't my taste. I do have to say that riding the motorcycle was pretty great. I wish I could customize my button layout however. I think that this game has opened up a lot for other companies to try. Hopefully someone will come out with something fantastic soon enough.......

Doesn't this game take place on Oahu?
