For those of you who shipped faulty XBOX 360's back...

...was it an relative easy process getting everything back on your HD afterwards?

I joined the "Red Ring of Death" Screen Freeze Club yesterday and MS is sending the carboard coffin for my 360.
I'm hoping all my game saves, DL'd Arcade games (Full Versions), and Live information make it back to the new HD.

I do have the Transfer Kit and am in the process of backing things up from the HD to the Mem Card and then to my PC. But it is a slow process because I have to dodge freeze-ups every couple of file moves.

Am I correct in assuming I can transer all this info back safely to the new console and its HD? What happens when I first try to access XBOX Live? Do I enter my user name info again and it recognizes me immediately and all my accomplishments? How long does it take for the new 360 to come back?
I was told not to send in the power supply. I assume it's OK. The light stays green while the it appears the console and/or the HD are experiencing the problems...(screen freeze, staticky image sometimes.)

I would appreciate hearing about how other unfortuante 360 owners such as myself got their console gaming lives back in gear after receiving their new console. I pray that I won't be like a couple of OS members who had to experience two funerals.

You're actually supposed to keep your HD and just send the console in, so this won't be an issue.

I was hoping that would be the case, but the MS rep said that I DO want to include the HD as it may be the the cause or part of the cause of my problem.

I'm curious as to how many OS people who sent in the XBOX for replacement were instructed so send in the HD, too.

I didn't have to send my HD but it turned out to be a bit of a hassle to get my theme back. The themes and arcade games apprently don't stay on the new system unless you're connected.

They said they'd try to dl it there for me. They couldn't so I had the points transfered to another account. While all that was realtivly simple for some reason I couldn't access my gamercard or recover it. That was the hassle bit and in that process all my saves had to be deleted to get it recoverd.

Thanks for that valuable info, goh.
That is what I am so afraid of.

Yep...MS wants nothing more than the console itself minus any cables and the HD.
