Yeah me too. All the complaining over every little thing in a video game, even a game like blitz and yet people still want to play a game that allowed them to run all over the field with one guy. Nostalgia is a helluva drug.

I think this retro thing is kind of getting a little out of hand.......

I don't want to get too deep and philosophical, but I think the retro craze proves one thing: Developers of current games are more focused on eye candy than fun gameplay.

The retro games may look like sh*t and have primitive gameplay mechanics with flawed AI in some cases, but damn, they are fun as hell to play.

And isn't that why we all started gaming in the first place? I first started playing on the Atari 2600 in 1981, and none of those games would win any beauty contests. But man, they were fun.

For you maybe. Personally after a few minutes playing the majority of these old games, I'm bored. Games today have much better gameplay imo.

Ironically, that's how I feel. I've honestly never understood those who complain about things now but see lesser challenging things as works of greatness still. Improving here and now is the way to go. I like your thinking man!!

True. But that only illustrates my point even more.

With the horsepower of today's consoles and the development budget of today's game designers, they should be able to create smarter, deeper games with more refined gameplay. But most of the development budget and design time is poured into graphics, as the eye candy is more important to most gamers than quality gameplay.
