    A few 360 questions

I'm new to the 360, I have a few questions, I tried searching and I couldn't find the answers, so sorry as I'm sure most of this has been over-discussed plenty in the past year.

-I have an NiMH charger with extra batteries I use for my digital camera, can I use these same batteries on my 360 wirelss controller?

-Ventilation: I have my 360 sitting on top of a DVD player which is on a foot tall wooden stand. It has nothing else directly around it, the TV stand is a few inches to one side and the other side has a foot or so before another piece of furniture. It sits about a foot away from the wall behind it, any forseeable problems with this setup?

-Best Buy: I got this as a present, the person didn't get the warranty. can I go back to Best Buy(where it was purchased) with the receipt and purchase their warranty, or will I have to get the Microsoft warranty now? If I can go back, do I need the box so they can scan it?

Thanks in advance, I am mainly concerned about the battery question and ventilation right now, I am surprised at how little informaiton the big gaming sites have on these issues.

    1. as long as the batteries are the same double A, they should work
    2. ventilation seems okay and if y ou are extra worried, they sell a fan for the 360. Look for it at ebgames
    3. think you can still purchase the warranty within 7 or 14 days of the original purchase. Just go into the store with your receit and ask them, but don't wait too long.

I asked about it after I bought my 360 and Best Buy, at least in Canada, gives you 30 days to purchase a warranty from them.

        Yup 30 days is correct.

About the ventilation - as long as the DVD player isn't on when the 360 is on it's OK. It probably isn't anything, but I'd just be concerned with how hot the DVD player would get if it were on.

Thanks, that was my biggest concern, I actually never use the DVD player it sits on, but I figure the metal case would be cooler than sitting it straight on the wooden shelf.

I went to Best Buy and was able to purchase the replacement plan with no problem, it is 30 days from the date of purchase.

            Thanks for the help.

does anyone know for sure that NiMH batteries are fine to use in the wireless controllers?

I would think that any rechargeable AA batteries are safe to use. However, I wouldn't use Microsoft's play and charge, or other charging kits that don't match the batteries - stick with the charger that's matched for the batteries.

Thanks, I read that the quick charge kit is actually NiMH batteries, so I don't see there being a problem. I was just hoping I could eliminate buying the quick charge or plug-n-play all-together, and I think it looks like I can. Thanks again for the help.

Congrats on your 360.. I use rechargable NIMH batteries. The important thing is to know what mAh are your batteries. 2500 mAh is the BEST you can get. They give you more usage life after being charged..

I have 2000, this was my only concern about them. The controller will take the battery no matter what mAh they are? The quick charge set comes with 1800, so I didn't want to overpower it with 2000, but you are saying this doesn't matter and that the 2000's I have will work?

Yes the 2000's will work, Im currently using 2500's without any problems at all.
