Re: Company of Heroes
Ya I was burned out also. I have been waiting for C&C 3 to get back into RTS's and came across this demo after reading PC Gamer gave it a 96 %. They did an outstanding job and nailed every detail. The sounds and animations are killer. I just pre-orderd it, and it ships tomarrow!Comment

IGN Review for those interested
IGN's Ratings for Company of Heroes (PC)
Rating Description
9.5 Presentation
Like a good soldier, Relic has applied a liberal amount of polish to Company of Heroes. All details have been given great amounts of detail and it shows.
9.5 Graphics
One of the best looking real-time strategy games in recent memory. The fact that they managed so much detail in the units and in the destructible environments is amazing.
9.0 Sound
Battlefield sounds serve to pull any comers onto the battlefield and into the chaos of warfare. Voice work in acknowledgements and cutscenes is very good and the score can be a powerful addition.
9.5 Gameplay
Campaign missions are almost perfectly paced and exciting from start to finish. Multiplayer and skirmish are exciting and challenging. There are very few noticeable flaws.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
Multiplayer and skirmish are excellent and will certainly extend the life of this game for most players. The campaign is good length and deserves a second playthrough at higher difficulty.
9.4 Outstanding OVERALL

Re: Company of Heroes
Question for anyone that has it-how does it run on your computer? I just read that it requires a pretty hefty computer rig to make it run good. If it is like Battlefield 2 specwise-I'm out. That thing chugged my 256mb Geforce and 512mb of RAM with a Athlon 3000+. Should have been able to handle it. I refuse to lower the graphics to PS2 type graphics,so let me know what you got and how it runs.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Company of Heroes
Total War is excellent. Have you tried the Medieval Total War series too? it's a little older but no slouch. Those games are keepers forever IMO.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

256MB Geforce is kind of vague. It could be a perfectly fine card or it could be a piece of junk. I can't tell just from the MB.Comment

Re: Company of Heroes
The two things that pulled my trigger was:
1) Rome Total is considered the best in the Series.
2) Rome Total War Gold only cost me $15 plus $5 shipping at CompUSA.comComment

Re: Company of Heroes
The Medieval series has a ton of different customizable environments and different countries. Let's not forget the wonderful add-on "Viking Invasion" I've seen the whole series at Target for around 20 bucks or so. The thing I like is that I can crank all the detail to the max, have HUGE armies with battles that have went on for over an hour easily in realtime, and excellent gameplay. Rome Total War is in my collection too and the Barbarian add-on is amazing . The Barbarians are like the Vikings on steroids!ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Company of Heroes
I have a GeForce 6200 256MB-DDR with the core clock overclocked to 375MHZ from 350MHZ. made by BFG. My weak link if any, would probably be in the RAM on my computer. 512MB ain't jack any more. I know my card isn't the flavor of the month, but it isn't a dinosaur,yet-Lol. I didn't try the demo but am probably going to snag it anyway. If it chugs,I'll save my pennies and get some more RAM.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: Company of Heroes
I'll have to check that out, I don't think I've heard of that one yet. I don't remember where the sites are,but there is mod sites out there that are doing some unreal things with this robust game engine. Also, The new Total War is in the works and I'm looking forward to that one.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment
