    Finally purchasing a 360...

After buying my first house and putting up a fence so my dogs can run around, I have finally been able to put some money aside for an XBox 360. I plan on purchasing the Premium unit, a couple of games and an extra controller.

What I was wondering is if anyone recommends any additional accessories to purchase, such as the cooling fan, the wireless controller recharger, etc.

What can't my system live without? I appreciate any help that you can give me.
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have NiMH rechargable batteries for another device(usually digital camera), you can use those in your wireless 360 controller. If you could get some use out of them elsewhere, consider buying a standard charger and a pack of NiMH batteries, you might get more use out of that then buying a product which is only for your 360 wireless controllers.

A cooling unit for only $20 isn't a bad investment, but by most accounts if you have your 360 in a well ventilated area you won't need one, but for $20 it isn't an expensive insurance policy.

Get an extended warranty, either from Microsoft or from the store you buy it from.

An extra controller if you are going to have somebody else playing.

Unless you have your router right by your 360, I suggest the wireless adapter. It works very very well and it keeps away all those annoying wires.

I don't know why people keep getting wireless controllers and then recharger stuff and extra batteries and the such. Wired ones are $10 less and have no extras to buy and you're never going to have to recharge them or anything like that.

what's to understand? Some people just dont like wires getting in the way of everything. Also, some people have kids, pets, etc that end up tripping over wires that could potentially yank the console off from where it is......

does it potentially matter to you why some others might want wireless gaming?

I really can't see playing with a wired controller again after using the wireless on 360. It is just too convenient for me. With the price, I will get wired controllers for my 2nd, 3rd and 4th controllers, but I would never want to use a wired controller myself.

The premium console comes with a 25 foot ethernet cable, I had another 25 footer and bought an ethernet-to-ethernet adapter to reach my wireless router. $7 for the adpater vs. $100 for the wireless adapter for the 360. If your system is going to be a few rooms or up/downstairs away from your router, then the wireless adapter is a must, otherwise do what you can to plug straight into it.

Doesn't the Premium 360 come with a wireless controller, making recharging a necessity already? I could be wrong..just what I was thinking when I read your comment.

Pets. I have seen my PS1, PS2, and XBox take many a spill because one of my dogs took a random run through the living room and got caught up in the wires.

I appreciate the help and advice from everyone. One final question. The wireless controllers that come with the 360, are they already charged and ready to go? Thanks again!

I don't mean to jack your thread, Hootie but how much are the warrenties usually and where is the best place to buy them? I've heard a lot of people mention best buy but are there any better one's out there? I'm finally getting one soon also and I need to know some of that.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
