I need some advice on setting a resolution on my monitor

I have a 21" LCD HD ready monitor hooked up to VGA cables made by Microsoft and was wondering what is the best resolution for me to use with my 360:

    640x480
    848x480
    1024x768
    1280x720
    1280x768
    1280x1024
    1360x768

I have no idea what any of this means. However, I do know when I tried to set it to 1280x720, the resolution of my screen actually got worse. Your input is greatly appreciated.

    that's odd... 1280X720 = 720p... should look the best... try 1360 X 768

I have a Gateway monitor. I just figured out that I have component inputs on my monitor. Now I don't have to use the VGA cables. I was wondering is 780p better that 1080i, which one should I use?

With LCD monitors you should use 720p.
