Wii as only console
I know there are a bunch of people at OS who are getting the Wii as a secondary console. I was wondering who here is buying one as their only console out of the new batch. I can only afford one console time wise as well as money wise. I am torn on whether to get a 360 or Wii. Was just wondering if anyone had decided as the Wii for their only gaming pleasure.Tags: None -
Re: Wii as only console
I'm going to be "Wii only" until the price drops on the other consoles. Though I think the 360 is - and the PS3 will be - a good system, I'm burned out on games that are often just polygon-pushing sequels. As long as that is the case, I find it hard for me to justify either hi-def option at the current prices.
plus, since I have friends with/or getting those systems, I can try games like "Dead Rising" and my console envy won't be too crippling.
I'm also not a big online gamer, so that isn't a selling point for me.Comment

Re: Wii as only console
If I enter the next gen, which is still debatable, then it probably will be Wii-only for me.
The 360 and PS3 are too expensive for what they provide for gaming, and the reliability of the 360 has been horrible so far.
The Wii looks to be a refreshing new way to play games, and if I can break myself from the annual cycle of sports releases, it looks like it will be the most enjoyable, affordable option for me.
It's about time I break myself from the spiral of annual sports releases, as they're the biggest ripoff in video gaming, with many titles offering a roster update and a few meaningless features for full price.
To me, gaming has become all about fun, not technology. Every time I pick up a Nintendo DS Lite at a kiosk, I'm grinning ear-to-ear even though the graphics and technology are primitive compared to the Xbox, 360 and PS3. The Wii looks like it has the same kind of fun factor.
Take care,

For one, everyone who has played Madden on it so far, has had nothing but great things to say about it. Imagine a baseball game on it, hell, Wii Sports has the basic baseball game on it already. Basketball, easy to do with the controller. But IMO, the 2 sports that would be golden... Golf and Hockey. Playing NHL would be so fluid, moving the stick for a shot or slap shot? Genius IMO. Golf, simple from the controller and I think that's on Wii Sports as well.
With all of the NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and Turbografix 16 games, and the rumor of Commodore 64 games also being added, the titles are endless.
If it wasn't for the great-ness of Xbox Live, I could almost see myself going only Wii.Comment

Re: Wii as only console
I'm selling my Xbox and games to get a Wii and it will be my only system unless I get some big promotion or land a tight job pushin a pencil.

Re: Wii as only console
I'm going Wii only for the time being. There's nothing on the 360 I have to play, and I won't consider a PS3 until Metal Gear and some Squaresoft titles start to show up. Between a Wii and a lot of good PS2 games coming out this fall (or already out and am still playing, such as MLB), I'll have no time for another console. I hardly have time for the ones I have anyways.Comment

Re: Wii as only console
Its all 3 for me. I couldnt handle having just 1 new console.
Bought the 360 at launch and have the PS3 and Wii paid in full and now just waiting...
good times!
BUT, If I could only go with one system it would be the 360. Then get the PS3 later."Because he's the hero Gotham deserves...but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him...because he can take it...because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...the Dark Knight."Comment
