Microsoft Announces 100 GB Xbox 360 HDD at Korean X06

Given that the PlayStation 3 ships with a pre-installed 20 GB hard drive in its standard configuration while offering a 60 GB variant, it was a matter of time before Microsoft would announce a bigger hard drive for the Xbox 360.

Today, at X06 in Korea, Microsoft Corp. announced larger capacity hard drives and memory units for the Xbox 360. Microsoft plans to introduce a 100 GB hard drive, which will offer five times the storage of the existing Xbox 360 hard drive, and a 256 MB memory unit that quadruples the current Xbox 360 Memory Unit.

Both accessories are scheduled for a March 2007 launch in Korea. Microsoft has yet to announce or confirm a North American release for these two accessories. TeamXbox has requested a comment from Microsoft, and we'll bring you the official word as soon as we get it. Stay tuned.

While I'm happy to hear this, I have to wonder about the price if a 20 GB HDD is $99.99 and 64MB Memory Unit is $39.99

Looks good, but I'll stick with the 20 GB HD. I couldn't imagine needing more space than that.

While I'm happy to hear this, I have to wonder about the price if a 20 GB HDD is $99.99 and 64MB Memory Unit is $39.99

Probably double the cost of a bare $100 GB drive I bet.

Hmmm, I wonder how this will effect sales of the 360 Premium bundles, once these come to the US. Will the 100 GB model become standard? I'm interested to see what the plans are.

I bet this thing costs about $200 if the 20gb is at $100. They might lower the price on the 20gb and make this one $150-$175.

i've got a 120 gb maxtor on my ps2 that i bought for like $100-$150.

they need to adjust their pricing structure for the HDD when this one comes out...it should retail for no more than 150, but who knows...

If the speculated 60gb is also coming than there will be pricing structuring for sure.

Where? I've never heard of a 60GB.

That would make no sense IMO to release a 60 and 100 gb HDD.
