I am now on my 2nd 360.

I got my first 360 1-13-06, thats friday the 13th and it lasted up until last night with no problems,10-21-06. I had the EB warranty and got a new one. This one was produced 7-31-06, and has a different DVD drive than my original one did. Should I be safe with this one, as in MS has fixed ALL problems by this production date? I played some Tomb Raier last night without the Intercooler on it and it got warm but do you think I should still hook up the Intercooler on the new system? I have already noticed that the dashboard is just a little different, I wonder in MS put in higher RPM fans or even better slightly bigger ones?

I've been using the Intercooler since it was available and my launch 360 has been rock solid so far.

I've read some post where MS fixed the problems in May of 06, which would be good for me, but I think I will still run the intercooler.

had mine since launch... few lock ups and 1 DDE in the first few months, flawless ever since... id on't own a fan stand or intercooler though

I'm on my second 360 as well. Been using the intercooler since I bought the first one. I took the first one back after three weeks and a couple of red light episodes and some grinding. The second one has had three red light episodes and two grindings. Took the intercooler off as a test, and have had no problems since. Taking the second one back before my 30 days is up. Got it at best buy.

so do you think the intercooler is actually causing problems for you? I wondered this myself, what happens with the fans inside the system when you attach the intercooler?

There are those that swear by them and then you have what happened to me. I'll wait to see if anything happens without the cooler before I pass judgement.

I'm one of those that thinks it helps but that's just me.

Yeah, but mine doesn't. I have the intercooler and it keeps everything cool. Good figure.

I'm a former intercooler user who's also on his second 360. I just bought the MS 2-year warranty with the replacement unit and ditched the cooler, since it didn't save my launch system. I think it does help keep the system a few degrees cooler, but that alone may not save your system from breaking down.
