    Re: MS to sue Sony?

I think it's funny that Sony only compared it to the Core System.

Technically they are correct about the Core Unit and it would take all those add ons to equal out to the Lower Tier model of the PS3.

    BUT

If you take the Premium 360 and add a HD-DVD drive, it's the same price as their Big Bird PS3 for $600 bucks. The only thing that would lack on the 360 is the 20 gig HD vs the 60. So I know Sony can't possibly compare those 2.

    It's sad, but amusing...

Thing I was saying was why would this be a suit. Of course, I was typing fast and chatting with my girl a little too. Kind of got distracted and didn't look over what I typed. Just funny that they're getting sued, especially after they tossed a lawsuit and put Lik out of business. Just funny how they bring that to a smaller company and then are getting back at them. Just wanted to know what exactly was the foundation of the suit by Microsoft, and then Nintendo. It was a false advertisment that wasn't true. It's all good though now. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I may be completely wrong here, but I think Sony may have gotten exactly what they wanted from this. This has become a huge deal, how big of a deal is a normal fact sheet like this? Not very. Now more and more people are talking about the fact sheet, which means more and more people will look at it. The HD DVD player and wireless controller are both completely uncessary, but even without them you have to play $450 to match PS3's $500 system in the most basic way(HDD + online play). People are going to read it and reconsider the outragous price of the PS3.

This seems highly unlikely that it will ever reach court. The only thing Sony messed up on was the word "necessary", it would be a huge legal battle for both sides that would last a while, probably long after the winner of this new console war is choosen. So if 2 years from now Microsoft wins a few million from Sony, but is losing the console war again, who cares? Is it worth Microsoft's money to fight?

Microsoft is helping Sony get more people to read this fact sheet than Sony could possibly have done on their own. It was either a stupid miswording by Sony or a genius marketing plan. Chances are it was the former, but I guarantee Sony isn't hating all of the attention that little sheet is getting now.

How big of a deal is it really? I haven't heard or seen anyone outside of this forum and a couple others talking about it and the people who have seen it all know that sony lied.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I don't really know, I'm sure it isn't making national headlines, but it may if lawsuits are actually filed. I know it did make the front page of Team Xbox and I'm sure gaming forums are all over it. If there is a lawsuit I think it will get a lot more attention outside of the online world. If MS lets it die now it probably isn't a big deal, but legal battles will only bring extra attention to it.
