Final Fantasy XII is a fantastic RPG. It blows all of its PS2 competition this year right out of the water and is among the all time elite role-players ever made for the system. Kingdom Hearts, Devil Summoner, Xenosaga III, Tales of the Abyss... none of them are on the same level as Square Enix's bold and riveting move in a new direction. Whether you're a fan of the genre or not, FF12 most
certainly deserves a special spot on your PS2 game shelf... put it in the front.

Lightning quick load times, one of the best storylines for any genre on any system for the entire year, and a gigantic fully-realized world is yours right out of the box.

10 Graphics
A PS2 technical accomplishment in every sense. Slowdown is a non-factor, model detail is incredible, facial and skeletal animation is stellar, and the artistic design kicks ***.

9.0 Sound
English and Scottish voice actors play out the storyline perfectly and the sound effects are varied and first-rate. Musically, FF12 isn't the best in the series, but is still extremely strong.

9.0 Gameplay
The new gambit system, full-camera control, license board upgrades, and enemy AI make for a Final Fantasy like no other. Best of all, it's fun AND challenging.

9.0 Lasting Appeal
Expect 40-100 hours of gameplay depending on your grinding preferences. Luckily, there are plenty of mini-games and hidden goodies to uncover along the way.

WOW! This game sounds amazing. I just wish I had the hours I used to play RPG's again. I had a blast with FFX and FFX-2, those were the last RPG's I played.

Glad I still have mine This is on my Christmas list. I've actually played my PS2 more this past year than I have in the past few years since I got an XBox. It's going out in style.

Bah....That's a problem? You couldn't get through DQVIII in any decent length of time without selling your useless crap (the alchemy pot was a nice steady source of gold too, through selling items you create). I'd rather use the extra leveling up time anyway.

That said, what a glowing review. I skimmed over the plot parts (obvious reasons) but this sounds every bit like what I've come to expect from Squenix.

yeah I traded all my PS2 stuff in...now I wish I still had one....this game looks to have came out nicely...

but its a day late and a dollar short....All I'm playing is Next Gen.....

Hopefully by mid to end of 2007 when I purchase my PS3, I'll pick it up for BC sake...

I'm a huge RPG fan, and the great reviews for FFXII have me super hyped...




The only problem is that my wife is going to hold the game until Christmas, since she whines about not being able to get me anything.

Don't see why people insist playing next gen only when the gaming library is much better on current gen, why limit your gaming experience to that. I have 360,Xbox,Ps2,Dreamcast. Not going sell any of them soon. You can miss some of the best games made that way.

Agreed. Final Fantasy XII, Okami, Guitar Hero 2, and Bully are all in the top 10 games to get released this year. And in the case of Final Fantasy, we may be talking top overall game of the year or at least top 3 (I expect most editor's top 3 games by the end of the year to be Final Fantasy, Zelda, and Gears of War). When all is said and done, I wouldn't be surprised if its the PS2 that saw the greatest number of quality titles released this year.

It looks nice, and it comes in a steel case. Wish I could take a picture of the box art, but I can't seem to find my digital camera.
