The good:
*They seem to have stayed true to the Neverwinter tradition and offer great CRPG gameplay.
*The interface is greatly improved and every command is a snap to get to. I am really digging the interface.
*The story is somewhat more interesting than the first game. It is still rather standard, but at least I am intrigued.
*There is a nice selection of races and genders. It was hard to pick what kind of character I wanted to be. Choices are always good.
*The sound is great and the music is spectacular. Very cinematic. Someone has been paying attention to the way LOTR used music. I am also pleased with the voice acting.
*They have encorporated the KOTOR choose your personality dialogue choices. It doesn't have as much of an impact as I would like it to, but it is a nice touch.
*Did I mention the gameplay is great CRPG stuff?
The bad:
*It took me an hour to get the game going. Most of that time was spent downloading an 87MB patch. Strange, but true.
*In today's gaming world how can you not have objects that you can interact with? There are too many intersting objects and things that I cannot play with in the game world
*The story is interesting, but the game hasn't blown me over. I played a bit of FFXII and while I am not crazy about the gameplay I was really sucked into the world. NWN2 hasn't done that for me yet.
*So far the camera is challenging to deal with.
The Ugly
* ^%$#$#@!!! the graphics are behind the times. The game looks like a better version of NWN. After so many years this was the best they could do. I know Oblivion is a different kind of RPG, but come on...couldn't they have tried a little harder. The animations are somewhat canned and the faces/bodies are pathetic by today's standards. I am very disappointed in this.
I played some more this morning and have really been enjoying the game. I am over the lack of graphical leap. This game really seems to have a lot going for it.
