      Few tips, Rod...

-Do a one-day auction. Give these people a 24 hour period to battle it out. If you can wait, the 3rd day is usually the peak day...many will already be gone, and the masses will be starting to get desparate. My wife says she saw a couple 360's get up to around 3 grand during launch week, and with the limited numbers and a desperate Euro market the PS3 prices should be bananas.

-Start the bid at a penny. The bidding will of course get high, but everyone tends to think they might get lucky and get it cheap, and the penny opener gets attention. The more overall bids the better. People instinctively assume that lots of bids means that something about your auction must be a really great, even if its the same deal everyone else is getting. No need for a reserve, the bidders will bid it past your wildest fantasies...but if you're afraid, I'd say set the reserve at at least 3 grand. Keep in mind the term "reserve not met" scares away some folks. Why bother bidding if you know ahead of time that the bid won't be any good?

-You inform them of the shipping beforehand. I'm prolly going to do free shipping, only because most other auctions will offer it. The damn thing is just so heavy. I sold a 360 and iirc the shipping on that sucker was about 50 bucks, so with all the fixins, the PS3 shipping will prolly be 75+. MAKE SURE YOU DO SOME TYPE OF PRIORITY SHIPPING WITH SIGNATURE RECEIPT, DELIVERY CONFIRMATION, AND INSURANCE! C.Y.A.!!!!

-Setting the auction up is pretty straight forward, but if you know someone with an active, thriving account, you'll prolly do alot better to sell it thru them. The big spenders are going to be looking for security. Feedback is E-bay's real currency. The limit right now is at least 50 transaction, but right now thats only for selling pre-sells. I think they're dropping that restriction once it's out...but with E-Bay, you never know.

-If you'll be buying first, make sure you take pics of everything...

-PAYPAL ONLY. PERIOD. With that kind of money, you don't want to fool around. Let them know in the shipping details that payment is required within 48 hours, or the bid is nullified, and that you will ship overnight upo receipt of the cash. For something like this people pay right away, like seconds after they win the bid though.

      Hope this helps...Good luck, bro.

HMcCoy, some of those tips I'm completely against doing, as some stand out as pretty shady stuff with high priced goods. But as they say, different strokes for different folks. Just saying my opinion.

I'm curious as to which would be shady? As in, how is letting someone bid on something shady?

I don't agree with the timing you are talking about. The 360 was highest on day 1 and went gradually down after that.

I think the lowest you can start an auction is 99 cents. Also a 3k RESERVE! LOL. Odds are this will happen.

List day 1 @ 99cents. Day 3 ends at $1500. DAMN, start over, relist (extra cost). Day 6 ends at $900. IMO

Sell something immediately and try to build a little feedback if you are at zero. Or buy something to get above zero. A feedback of 3 looks A LOT better than zero.

Yeah BK I don't see anything shady about starting out at a penny as it's a common selling practice on ebay. Also selling on the 3rd day is a pretty good idea as well.

I don't see what's shady about his advice. Thanks McCoy for the info.

Thanks Bryan and I do have a 100% rating (7 transactions) although it was just buying stuff.

You may be right. My wife does the E-Baying, I do the waiting in the cold, so most of this is what she's told me. Could have swore she said she'd be listing it for .01, but it was probably .99 as you've said. I am quite certain 360's got up to 3k a couple times after the first 2 days, because she begged me to put mine up for sale a day or 2 after I got it.

Also, its a one day auction. My wife does this for a living, and I trust her judgement...but I'm going to crap myself if this sells for under 3k.

You're welcome. I've been on eBay a while and have done the PS2, Xbox, and 360 sales in the first couple months. From my experience the 1st day is highest and it goes down. But it is different for everyone. A lot also depends on timing of the auction, future shipments, hype, etc. There is a guide for highest eBay volume out there somewhere.

HM. There were maybe 10 that got to 3,000 on day 1 early in the morning, I think. I don't know for sure, just my memory from that VERY late night.

I was a Powerseller once and they sent me some data on eBay trends, I wish I knew where I saved it.

Anyway, for some more advanced selling stuff ... http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/index.html

All these people buy eBay books, but eBay promotes themselves and gives great advice. It helps them and their customers.
