The other day I preordered Gears of War from Best Buy with free shipping. It was supposed to ship out today. When I went to check my order status it said my item was backordered. I called Best Buy's customer service and was told because others had preordered before me they had to fill those orders first (like I am an idiot). I ended up cancelling my order. Obviously Best Buy does not grasp the concept of preorder. Preorder is supposed to guarantee you a copy. Now I have to call around to find who has a copy of the game for me to purchase. Idiots.

Pre-order doesn't gaurantee anything that's why I NEVER preorder any game, between circuit city, target, best buy, walmart, eb, gamestop, and a few other places you can almost always get a game when it comes out here.. I wonder how many saps preordered PS3's that wont get them til the 2nd shipment arrives.

I don't think they do it anymore. They took a lot of heat last year during the 360 release.

I preordered GOW at Gamestop. They said they only got the collector's edition in today, and should have the regular one in tommorow the 9th... If I pick it up tommorow they will refund me $5... first time i heard something like this before.

EB and Gamestop are 9/10 times got your pre-order. It's not the compaines fault if shady employees sell others Pre-Orders... do keep in mind however that they say on the reciepts that they will only hold pre-orders for 72hrs.

Gamestop/EB is now starting the trend of only those that pre-order will get the games the night before or the day it comes out. It cuts down on over ordering of titles that may not sell.... and it also pushes people to pre-order since a lot of the big box stores don't always get the smaller titles in on street date... hell, sometimes not even the same week. It's how it is.

if ever know of someone selling your pre-order with in the 2 day window of when the game comes out, as for the District Managers number and then PISS MOAN AND COMPLAIN to them. You can probably walk away with a free game if not a gift card to the store... true story, I should know. My old manager was "Shady."

As for the big chain stores... don't even bother with their pre-order programs. They are so half hazard it's rediculous.

A funny add to this story. When I got off work I had to stop at Walmart to pick up a few things. I went to the electronics department looking around and they had Gears of War for sale. I did not have my credit card with me though and not enough cash with me to get it. I will be picking up by the weekend though.
