EA is just pathetic anymore IMO. However no matter what they do, there's always someone drinking their koolaide.
They have zero business calling any other developer out. If their biggest claim to fame this year for innovation is the hockey shot stick well...nuff said.

I tend to disagree that EA is not innovative. Just take a look and see what they have done with the Marketplace. Now that is what I call innovation.

The best innovation out of any sports game this year came from EA (skill stick on NHL).

The fact of the matter is that lots of consumers love EA and this is reflected by sales.

Business is so good, a company rep announced today EA Canada will be hiring around 400 people next year to keep up with demand.
Or the fact that they buy exclusive licenses.

In my opinion, Gears of War is easily one of the greatest games of all time. It's a blast on-line and off. Maybe if EA spent less time being so creative and more time fixing gameplay issues then people would be more apt to sing them praise as well.

I agree. If EA throws tons of stuff against the wall some of it will stick. The skill stick was a great innovation, but watch how EA will run it into the ground. This guy is just another moron who thinks he is a FOX news personality. I am tired of some of these guys talking like they are auditioning for the WWE. Instead of copying some of the worst habits of other big businesses why not branch out and do something different?

If he said this as an individual, which I think was his intention, I could see his points, but they get watered down very quickly when he says, he hasn't played it yet.

This isn't an EA press release, it's an individual speaking who happens to work for EA. Nonetheless, he does work for EA and has not a single game to fall back on when it comes to innovation.

EA is the video game industry equivalent of the New York Yankees.

Which is what always happens. I know there was an EA employee here who got laid off not long ago.

IMO the last thing they need to do is criticize another company for innovation when their joke of a game and a complete embarrassment to the industry in NBA Live was nothing short of a disaster

I don't have a 360 and I haven't played gears of war, but from what I've read and watched gow doesn't appear to me to be all that innovative. Seems to me it combines several elements that have been done before into a seamless package. The cover system has been done before with kill switch for ps2.

Does this detract from gow's greatness? Again, I haven't played the game but I would say not a chance.

God of War for the ps2 was the same type of game. It really had nothing new, but what it did so well was integrate a number of elements from various games into one well polished package. That was easily one of the best games I've played and it did nothing new.

I'd imagine gears is somewhat similar. It doesn't really do anything all that new, but what it does do is nail perfectly all the elements it has brought together.

You know, after playing a bit of GoW the past day, I have to say that it really isn't very innovative or creative. Not a huge dead because...

The thing is, it's still awesome, and I think that has a lot to do with not being rushed out the door because of a steadfast release date. It's smooth, it feels good, it plays well, it's a great game. Epic wasn't told that they had to have the game out the door for August 21st, 2006 for Gears of War Day in Gears of War, Mississippi. They made the game and they made it right. EA may have figured out how to make money on video games but it's a joke when they go around sounding off on how they understand quality.

Exactly when they put out rehashed games like NFS, NFSHot Pursuit 1&2, NFSU 1&2, NFSMW, NFS Carbon, and every year we get another Burnout, and something Sims related. It's like the pot calling the kettle black.

EA is in NO position to criticize another company for lack of innovation. IMO they pwn mediocrity.

EA sucks, but his points are valid and I agree with him. I'm giving them a chance though with Madden on the Wii which does look pretty unique and fresh.
