Re: For those that have had a 360 die...
My launch console died. The drive scratched then stopped reading discs.
2 months into my 2nd console, the same things are happening. Just a lot sooner...
MS must be using some of the cheapest and dodgiest drives or lasers around because my el cheapo drives in my PC have lasted for years.Comment

Re: For those that have had a 360 die...
I actually had my launch XBox 360 die on Thursday. My born on date was 10-23-2005. I never had any problems with it, then I bought GOW and after a few 2 hour sessions I got the 3 rings of death when I attempted to turn it on. I am currently waiting on my box to send it into MS. After I get my new 360 I will be buying the warranty.Comment

Re: For those that have had a 360 die...
I'm on my second 360. My launch 360 died after 3 weeks. Zero problems so far with my replacement console, knock on wood. How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.Comment

Re: For those that have had a 360 die...
Bought mine in August, born on date was sometime in June or July. Mine died in less than 2 months. It would boot up and I could hear it at the dashboard but I could not get a video display. Best Buy PRP and I had a new one in no time.
Any $300+ console that spins disks, there is no way im taking the chance on them without a warranty or replacement plan. This is my 2nd 360, and I went thru 3 Xboxes as well.Comment

Re: For those that have had a 360 die...
Bought my 360 at the end of January. Had a born on date of jan 15th 2006. Three weeks ago while playing NCAA football, suddenly the picture went black and after about a week later, got the three red rings. Had a product replacement plan from Best Buy and got a new unit (this one born on July 26, 2006). Glad I bought the replacement plan. Costed me another $60 when I got the new 360, but it gies you peace of mind to know that I can just go and get a new unit when it breaks. Also , I found out that with these PRP's, if you do not want to exchange and get a new 360, you can get a gift card for the amount of the purchase price. I am contemplating using the store credit to get a PS3 if and when the next time my 360 breaks.Comment
