    Xbox Live Help

My NAT settings for my 360 have recently switched to strict somehow, I'm not sure how or why it switched from moderate to strict, but now I can't connect to any games online whatsoever.

I think it's because of the firewall in the LAN we have at my house, but I'm not sure how to switch that, and I'm sure my dad wouldn't let me change anything.

So I was thinking about getting the Xbox Live wireless adapter or whatever, but I would need a wireless router, right? I'm not very tech savvy, so would it be at all possible for me to setup a wireless router in my room and use it strictly for my Xbox 360 with the wireless adapter?

If anyone could help me out here, that'd be great..I really want to play online again.

The best thing to do would be to login to your router and put your 360 in a DMZ.

To use a wireless router you would have to connect it to the existing router or modem that you currently have at your house. Is that possible?

Probably, but it would have the same firewall settings, wouldn't it?

I'll try the DMZ thing later tonight when my dad gets home, thanks Scoop.

Theoretically, but I still don't understand really what is being blocked.

Neither do I, it worked fine the other night, then when I got my new 360 with my warranty, it stopped working.

Strangest thing just happened, I went to check my connection again, and the NAT is moderate, so I went to join a random COD3 game and it worked.

So I guess it was just a random problem last night.

                    Re: Xbox Live Help

If your NAT is anything other than Open you will experience problems from time to time. Your two choices are to get a new router that is on the Xbox Live compatibility list or to put your 360 in a DMZ.
