    Does anyone know if there is a skirmish mode for single player? I was thinking of buying it if it has that otherwise I will just rent it.

      Yes, There is a skrimish mode that you can play up to 4 players, human or AI.

        Thanks, just wanted to make sure. Hopefully some downloadable maps and such come out fairly soon.

          I'll probably pick it up this weekend. I'll be trading in my wasted NBA Street HC that I played for 3 days, plus use a little bit of the EB Games Edge card and the XBL Diamond card and see if I can get it down to around half price or so.

            I'm loving this game and props to EA for doing an excellent job bringing this over to the 360. Nothing like waging war in your living room!

            Can't wait to finish the GDI campaign so I can jump in as NOD.

              So far I am liking this game, and thats huge because I am not a big fan of RTS games. The only other RTS games I have played were on the PC, Star Craft and War Craft. They did a good job of developing C&C for a console. The use of the "R" trigger to access everything and not actually be at your base to make more army's is great. Good game so far.

                  New Expansion Pack for C&C3: Tiberium Wars
                  Kane's Wrath heading to PC and Xbox 360 in early 2008.



                  UK, August 14, 2007 - Fans of evil megalomaniacs rejoice: EA is prepping an expansion pack for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and it's all about baldy bad guy Kane. Scheduled for both Xbox 360 and PC, Kane's Wrath is shipping early 2008 and features a new campaign, characters, gameplay modes and online multiplayer maps.

                  Officially announced by C&C3 producer Jim Vessella on EA's new BattleCast Primetime show, Kane's Wrath centres around Kane and the rise of the NOD during the Second Tiberium Wars, continuing through the Third Wars and beyond. According to Vessella, there will be new live action cinematics and "a few new characters for Kane to mingle with".

                  However, more importantly, the expansion features a never-before-seen gameplay option called Global Domination. Explaining this new mode, Vessella revealed, "It's a game like Risk but on steroids, supporting the C&C3 fiction with ion cannons, nukes and mammoth tanks, as you move your armies round the entire world.

                  "When armies collide you will jump down into to that fast and fluid C&C gameplay that you know and love. When you come out these units will persist, allowing for a longer more global campaign."

                  Alongside this mode, EA is also planning to introduce more units, upgrades, powers and structures for each of the core factions. Plus each faction is set to gain two new sub-factions that come with their own modified units, powers and upgrades. Additionally, expect 24 new multiplayer maps for online play.

                  All this content is planned for both PC and Xbox 360. However, console owners are getting another update in the form of the 'radial interface'. This looks like a dial that can be brought up on the fly during battles and used to issue commands, without having to trawl through multiple menus.

                  Vessella is pretty excited about the interface: "It allows exponentially more speed and power to the user. When they are managing their building queues, it allows them to manage their base from anywhere on the map and they never have to go back. This is our next innovation and we really think it's going to revolutionise RTS on home consoles."

                  Command & Conquer's development team is heading to the Leipzig Games Convention next week, so expect to hear more details on Kane's Wrath then.

                    It's a great game. I have it collecting dust though because with all the great games coming out this just fell down. I still need to pass this.

                    If you liked C&C on PC and you enjoyed playing LoFR on the 360 you will really enjoy this.

                      Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath Hands-on Preview

                      The key to that redesign of the controls is more visual than anything. Tiberium Wars brought up your build and command menus in a flat, linear format, making for a very unsexy looking interface. In Kane’s Wrath, you have a lovely round menu with exactly twelve slots. Not that you always need twelve slots, sometimes you only have four actions to choose from. But the developers at EA wanted to establish some continuity. Plus, it’s easier for your brain to remember where different things are in a fixed menu like that, especially when you think in terms of WWII fighter pilot descriptors – bogey at 2 o’clock, etc. In this case it’s more like build Harvester at 2 o’clock, but you get the idea.
                      You have several different menus for controlling different aspects of the game, and you can easily switch between them no matter where you are on the map by clicking the X button. Say you’re in some corner of the map overseeing some of your units in a skirmish and you realize you need to build some reinforcements. Hitting Right Trigger will quickly bring up the menu for commanding the units in the field you have selected. Hitting X will take you to the build menu, but it won’t deselect your active units or move the camera back over the production center. The worst part about an RTS is trying to pay attention to what’s happening in the field as well as back at homebase.

                      There are some other nice touches to the controls that may not necessarily be new, but are more than welcome nonetheless. Hitting Y and zooming the camera instantly to where the action from an audio alert is happening is something I did all the time when I played a build of the game recently. Setting control groups on the dpad is also pretty painless, which is good because grouping units is crucial for hardcore players. All in all, the controls feel pretty darn intuitive.
                      The new campaign spans twenty years and is split into three acts. The first one is a prequel to the events of Tiberium Wars, the second act covers events that happen concurrently to the events of that game, and the third act is a sequel to those events. There are also six new sub factions to play as, each with its own unique units, talents and abilities. You can explore all this in another mode that’s exclusive to the Xbox 360. Kane’s Challenge is like a training mode, but offers more. It not only teaches you all the basics of playing the game (even if you’re brand new to the real-time strategy genre) as well as evaluates the kind of gamer you are. A bunch of unique cut scenes featuring that bald bastard Kane are just the cherry on top.
                      Multiplayer also contains a lot of new content, especially for Xbox 360 gamers. Up to four players can play online over Xbox Live, and on the Xbox 360 there are five game modes. That’s a whole lot better than the one that was on the PC version of the game. In addition to the standard deathmatch style of play, there’s also King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Capture and Hold and Siege mode. Siege is particularly cool. Players are placed behind barriers set to go down after a certain amount of time. This allows players to build up their bases and armies without some doof rushing you with his most basic unit before you’ve even built a power plant. There are fifty maps to play on including all the maps from Tiberium Wars, all the maps that were added to the PC version through patches and two dozen brand new maps.
                      Considering that you’re getting so much new content in addition to your revamped control scheme for $39.99, we gotta put in a nomination for Command & Conquer: Kane’s Wrath as “value of the year”. It’s not a full sequel to the game, but it provides plenty of stuff for those who enjoyed Tiberium Wars and looks like a decent entry point for anyone interested in seeing what all the C&C fuss is about. Just stare deeply into Kane’s eyes and try to say no.

                        did anybody else pick this up? I've been jonesing for a strategy game real bad and since my laptop is too weak to run anything that's even halfway decent, I decided to go ahead and get this game. It's a glorified expansion but at $40 it seems worth it. I'm sure I'll be one of like 10 people to get the game but I'm OK with that.

                        So far it seems good. Feels just like the last one on 360 except the new command stick. It's pretty intuitive and didn't take more than 10 minutes to get used to which was nice. Also what EA did was make some new units for each faction, then split each faction three times so there's nine different factions now (i.e. three different GDI, three different NOD and three different Scrin). I've only played for about 30 minutes and I didn't play the full version of Tiberium Wars but so far I'm enjoying it. I just hope there's some other people out there that get this so I can go online once I get good at it.
