Has Microsoft recognized/addressed the faulty issues with the launch 360's?

I've read a few posts on here over the last few months regarding various issues regarding 360's dying, specifically relating to the "red rings of death," and I'm curious if Microsoft has acknowledged the problem, and/or taken any steps to resolve it in their more recent shipments of the system?

yes, if your 360 was made in 2005 then they will exchange your console for free. And yes they have fixed all the later consoles

My launch system died on me 2 weeks ago.
I kept the HD from my dead system.

The first thing I noticed about my new system. It ran a little quieter. It boots up to Xbox Live quicker than it had before. I put the system's feet on top of 4 old school style erasers. Just that quarter inch has made a difference in air flow. It's not nearly as hot as the system had ran before.

In general listening to my 360 run now, im not worried like I had been.

I have to remember that erasers tip, this is the second thread where somebody's saying their 360 doesn't get as hot sitting on them.

I'm trying to remember who mentioned it on OS as well. that's why I tried it and all be damned if it didn't work.

I really could care less if anyone wants to make fun of the erasers under it. If anyone says anything i'll just take black marker and make it looks like coasters under the system.

                      Dagger,

I've got a launch system and it died a year later.
My brother has a Launch system, it's still alive and well.

I agree that some are exaggerting, BUT it doesn't surprise me that some of the guys here are having issues. Reason why? We're the HARDCORE gamers that got the systems on Day 1. Of course we're going to be the audience that finds the problems first.

oh i know there are problems out there, as there are with all launches, but i dont think there is anything where MS would come out and "recoginze/address" because i dont think its that big of a problem.

Or maybe Birmingham Al just got some real good shipments

MS in a way admits to problems with the launch units, henec the reason those units were giving a whole year's warrenty by MS instead of the 3 months. Here at OS, it typically seems to be the Launch guys that have their units die.

Mine is still going strong one year later. In fact I look forward to see the 3 Rings of Death so I can get another one. I have 3 months left on my EB extended warranty.

Knock on wood. A year and three days and it's still fine.
