From release date to now... you can buy one Xbox 360 game. Which is it, and why?

With the holidays approaching, and the potential for new 360 owners to be also looking for a new game, I figured this thread might be fun.

Starting back at the Xbox 360 release, and through November, if you were only permitted to buy one game, what game would it be, and why?

In essence, I guess I am asking which the best Xbox 360 game is, but I also think that a games longetivity and value enters the equation, so perhaps the game recommended may vary from a straight "best of" type poll.

Also, please include your reasoning as to why you recommend a particular game. Personally, I do not put much stock into mass media game reviews, instead prefering hands on accounts from gamers like yourselves, and ultimately I consider the "why" to be the most important aspect of any suggestion presented.

So to refer back to the original question: You can buy one Xbox 360 game, from its inception through November. Which do you recommend, and why?

I think Elder Scrolls: Oblivion or Gears of War are the top two games so far.
NCAA Vets League: Arkansas Razorbacks (9-2, 6-1)
MLB OS League: Seattle Mariners (9-2)

      I have three:

      1) Gears of War
      2) Call of Duty 3
      3) Either of the 2K basketball games

Why? All three possess the best graphics and gameplay to be found on the system.

I know it just came out but I would go with Rainbow Six Vegas. The longevity with online MP, seems to be endless. Tons of fun and I haven't even tried the SP yet.

I would say Gears of War. I also play Fight Night Round 3 everyday.

            NCAA football 2007

Until this week, it was the only 360 (and video game period) game I played from July to November. I played Oblivion on the PC, but NCAA was the reason I bought the system.

I would have to say Oblivion... it was by far the most fun experience I've had w/ the 360 so far.

Sports game, I'd say either NBA 2k7 or CH 2K7... both are great titles...

You didn't tell us what type of games you like. Based on a game with longevity and replay value I can only recommend.

                  "Oblivion"

This a game you can sink hundreds of hours into and a new expansion was released.

Oblivion. Long gameplay. Good downloadable content that adds even more.

Second would be either COD3, Choops2K7 or R6.

Great thread. I'm actually thinking about trading in my xbox tomorrow towards a 360. Gamestop has a deal for $80 trade in value for the xbox, and cod2 and one year product replacement plan for free when you get a premium 360.

Hopefully I can dump cod2 and get some kind of value for that as I played it to death on the pc. I'm trying to decide on what game(s) to get: ncaa football, ch2k7, gears, graw, or splinter cell? I can probably manage 1 or 2 of them after also picking up the play'n'charge, mem card, and transfer kit.

Any suggestions between ncaa football and ch2k7? I'm not a huge hoops fan and haven't bought a basketball game in many many years, but the legacy mode sounds interesting. Is ch2k7 a game like winning eleven that can convert you to liking the sport?

Any other suggestions? I have oblivion for the pc so that's off the list, I'm not a fan of rainbow6, and I'm pretty sure I can get santa to get me cod3 Any other titles I should be considering?

Between CHoops 2K7 and NCAA 2007, you can't go wrong. On X360, I've only played them both sparingly, but they are solid, solid games.

And you should definetely get GOW as the second game. Really no question there, IMO.

Two games i'd recommend from your list. Gears of War it lives up to the hype and it's tough. For sports i'll suggest CHoops 2K7 over NCAA Football for two reasons. (A) College Football Season is finishing up. (B) NCAA Football 2007 is still a work in progress. CHoops is a refined and tweaked game and is the best College BB game on the market just like NBA2K7 is the best NBA game out.

I can't say it will turn you into a basketball fan but if you were to pick a College BB game for the 360 then this is your best choice. I'm not a basketball fan per say but I have and enjoy playing NBA 2K6/2K7.

Not wanting to hijack this thread, but does anyone have any info on the expansion from Oblivion? I didn't know one had been released. How is it? How does it add to the gameplay?
