Wireless controller problem (Xbox 360)

Ok, so, I have four wireless controllers overall.

Two of them, which belong to me, work perfectly. The other two I just borrowed from my friend because I wanna have a 4-way LAN party with my friends in Call of Duty 2.

Now, the two controllers I borrowed don't respond (work) on my xbox 360, but they work fine on my friends.

Why aren't these controllers working on my xbox 360? What do I need to do in order for them to respond/work?

I think what you have to do is press the 'connect' button on the controller and console. I'll try and find a photo of it.

Edit: Here ya go. There should be a corresponding button on the top of the controller as well.

Well, I know I pressed it on the console, and is the connect button on the controller the big X in the middle?

I pressed them both, but where and when do I press them? (At what screen) (IE The dashboard) and do I press them at the same time?

On the controller, it's in between the LB and RB.

I think you just push while you are on the Dashboard.

I'd press the console first. When the green lights are spinning on the console, press and hold the button on the controller.
