Re: New 360 here - loving media center extender
I am trying to setup my 360 and laptop using Windows Media Center because I will be getting an HDTV tuner for my laptop for Xmas. When I try to install the Media Extender in Media Center 2005 I keep getting a screen that says an error has occured while updating Media Center and to try again. Anyone have any issues like this? I have looked all over the net for help and have installed all available updates but nothing has helped.Comment

Sorry for the extremely late reply, but yes it works. The site tells you exactly how to use it once installed. Didn't have a bit of trouble once I viewed the readme file. I've watched several videos I've downloaded, without a problem.Comment

If you can get the exact error code and search for it there or at google, you should be able to get things working.
I found just about all of the answers to my media center and extender problems from that site. It took me several hours, but I ended up uninstalling the media center 2005 rollup, uninstalling all of .net with the help of a removal tool from that site, and unistalling a few hotfixes before I reinstalled them all to get things to work. It was well worth it to get the extender working.Comment

Re: New 360 here - loving media center extender
So I'm intrigued about this now that MLB 2K8 has the custom soundtracks. Using media center extender, can I play all of my songs on my laptop through my 360 without using any of the HDD space?Twitter

Yes, you can play your music on the laptop on the 360 via streaming (using Windows Media Player, it's the easiest). I don't know if custom soundtrack games can use that type of thing though. I don't know enough about that feature, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to have the music on the 360 itself in order to use it as a custom soundtrack. I just can't see how they stream over your network during the game, it's just a lot of data to push around, you know?Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
