    Would it be worth it?

Well, after the not so great release of the current gen College Hoops 2k7, I've started debating on whether or not to get a 360 again. There are a couple of reasons why I haven't got one yet, and I thought I'd ask you guys that have a 360 if it would be worth it for me to buy one.

First of all, I don't have a HDTV to play it on, but I don't think that would bug me to much. The main reason why I haven't gotten a 360 is that I don't have DSL or cabel because the companies claim it isn't available where I live. So is it worth the $500 I'd have to pay to enjoy College Hoops 2k7?

I hear that the 360 looks good on an SDTV and obviously better on an HDTV. You can't go wrong owning a 360 again, especially after all the good games that have started to release from August.

DSL/Cable aren't that big of a deal to enjoy the 360, but it does detract from downloading Dashboard Updates and/or demos + play on LIVE. I know a few people that haven't taken their system online yet, so it's no bid deal if you can deal with it until you get DSL/Cable.

If your going to get more games than CHoops2K7, then I would say yes to getting a 360. If your not, then I wouldn't waste the $$$$$ again for 1 game.

not worth it if you're only getting one to play one game.

        Agree with SoMiss.
However, if you're interested in games such as Rainbow Six Vegas, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Gears of War, Call of Duty 3, Smackdown Vs. Raw, Splinter Cell: Double Agent....then yes, it's well worth it. For those who were on the fence before about purchasing a 360 because of the lack of quality titles, well, now's as good a time as any to take the plunge.

for the longest time I didnt have an HDTV and of course its way better on HD but the 360 still looks good on SDTV. As for Live, I dont have high speed internet where I live so I cant play on Live. As I would kill to play on live, the 360 is still great

You can now find great deals on HDTV's. I purchased a 27" Widescreen flat panel for $499. Cman just bought a 32" HDTV Flat Panel for $500.

To be honest next-gen gaming for the Xbox 360 and PS3 is all about visuals IMO. I think you would be wasting your money playing a 360 on a SDTV. Check the reviews from last year regarding NBA2K6 and CHoops 2K6. The games looked better than average on a SDTV.

In HD the difference is glaring.

If your looking to buy just one game right now I would say do it but also try and find a good HDTV to enjoy your purchase even more.

Like Rod said, games on SDTV don't look bad at all from what I have read, but on a HDTV they look very nice. If you can also get yourself an HDTV, that really help. If your getting the system for one game, I wouldn't spend that kind of money. If your getting it for more games today or down the road then do it.

If you can't afford an HDTV... get yourself a nice widescreen LCD monitor. About half the price and, if you don't have available/particularly want to pay extra for HDTV service for television, it's a great deal.

Re: Would it be worth it?

I am going to jump in here to because I am still playing "last-gen" PS2. I was kind of waiting for PS3 because I have honestly played a XBOX 1 or 2 times and I have never played a 360. I really don't know why, except I was turned off because I wasn't used to the controller. THey one time I played I got beat on NCAA Football by like 50 because I couldn't figure out what I was doing.

Anyway, I am not really a hardcore Sony fanboy. I have just happened to play what was out first for the most part. However, now with the price and launch games for PS3 I am as close as walking out the door to get a 360 because the recently released games. I do have an LCD but my online connection is questionable. I also live in the country/mountains. However, I have the DirecWAY satellite internet which is pretty good but not wuite as good as say the high speed charter type stuff.

My question, Does anyone know if I will have a good connection with the DIrecway internet? Or know of someone who uses it to connect to live?

Side note, Somone seriously needs to lock the CHoops thread because I can;t stay out of it. People make that game sound great.

It's not so much that I would be buying it for just College Hoops, but more that I might buy one because of College Hoops. I'd love to get Gears of War, Call of Duty, ect., but from my experience playing my friends game it wouldn't be worth it to spend $60 on a game that's mostly fun on Live.

It sucks and doesn't make since that the DSL people can't manage to get it to my area, when I live in a city with 400,000 or so people.
