    LCD Monitor for Gaming

I posted this in Entertainment/Tech but then I realized it was probably the wrong place so I'll put it here too.

So right now I have myself a CRT monitor and I'm looking to upgrade to an LCD. I'd like to use it for gaming as soon as I move into the next gen and finally grab a 360. I really have no idea what I'm looking for, though. Any help would be appreciated.

-What's the correlation between resolution and traditional TV output? I mean, I see monitors with a maximum resolution of 1280x768 or 1440x900 - how does that relate to 720p or 1080i?

-Do I want a higher or lower brightness? Do I want a larger or smaller contrast ratio?

-For playing video games, which connection type is preferred (I see D-sub and DVI-D as a couple examples)?

-Is a widescreen worth the extra $25 or so over a comparable normal screen for gaming?

-What are some good deals you might recommend?

Anything else you found helpful, or think might help me, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Re: LCD Monitor for Gaming

Main thing you want to have, is the lower the refresh rate. 8MS is good, 5MS is fantastic. Newer LCD's are coming at 5MS now, which is so close to a tube TV.
