Make Your Own Wii Component Cables

Most people weren't lucky enough to submit an order to Nintendo's online store before Wii component cables disappeared from online shelves. Since then, no cables have been shipped to brick and mortar retailers and third parties have been conspicuously slow to capitalize on the growing demand for something other than composite, which produces a horrifying image on any TV worth its salt.

In any case, those desperate and anxious for pumping a decent image out of their Wii are in luck: if they're up to the task of being a bit of a MacGyver and constructing your own component cables. TDFICQ has step-by-step directions on how to accomplish the daunting, though plausible, task. Your Wii ends up looking like a bit of a Frankenstein by the end of it, though.

Someone tell me if this is worth the effort. I refuse to play anymore Twilight Princess until I have cables!

Directions on how to make your cable:

It looks like you can mess up your system w/ this if not careful.

You're not actually doing anything to the system. And the composite cables will still work. The only problem is that if you move your console you lose all of your hard work. It's just a temporary fix.

Isn't there a possibility of frying the back of the AV connection.

Looks like it's more trouble then it's worth.

I don't even have to read this thread to know that this is a very bad idea, LOL

Ditto. Same goes for the candles replacing the sensor bar.

How do you use candles to replace the sensor bar? Just curious.

Re: Make Your Own Wii Component Cables

This whole project sounds like something a few drunk guys would try to do some weekend after finding it on the net. Bad idea completely and I'd never take a chance on frying my new Wii by trying it. Just spend the money to get the cables and if you can't find them, then try being patient, I know it's a foreign word for most of us but in this case I believe it's warranted.
