Re: Analyst Says PS3 will be Sony's last console.
lol why is there so much hatred for videogames? can't we just have a variety of systems and pick and choose whatever we want without arguing about who beats who? LOL
I'd hate to see an EA type nfl-exclusive videogame machineComment

What are the benefits of being a fanboy?
Even if Microsoft "wins", you still ain't gon have any money. When Microsoft dominates the gaming industry with X720 5-8 years from now, you're gon reach in your pockets and finally figure out that you ain't win anything.
There isn't even a point in arguing about this. PS3 just came out last week.

Re: Analyst Says PS3 will be Sony's last console.
"Analysts" are reaching on this one. Even Sega, whos Saturn console was a complete clusterf*ck of the highest magnitude from day 1, still had enough backing to take another stab at one more console (DC).
I think Sony's made a ton of mistakes, and speaking from the POV of a former game retailer who's dealt firsthand with the sheer magnitiude of Sony's arrogance...I'd still be shocked if they don't come out of this generation on at least equal footing as MS. Its going to take devine intervention for Billy G to fully penetrate Japan, or the hood, thats just a fact.
Even if they do have serious financial troubles, I would think companies would be lining up to co-bankroll a PS4 and take advantage of one of the strongest brands in the entertainment industry, and the oceans of Sony fanboys that will still exist when the dust settles on this gen no matter who "wins". Ninty kept its diehards from the dynasty days...Sony will also. This is going to be a 3 console race for quite a long time, IMO.Last edited by HMcCoy; 12-01-2006, 03:57 AM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: Analyst Says PS3 will be Sony's last console.
sony has to just stop copying MS's "throw as much money into a console as possible" style and they'll be fine. They didn't get to be #1 by doing that, I don't know why they did it now. It's almost like they are the USSR trying to keep up with the US's spending on military back in the day.
No way the ps3 needed half the stuff it has in it.Comment

Re: Analyst Says PS3 will be Sony's last console.
Just like exclusive deals KILLED sports videogames (well football and baseball), if Sony does not make a PS4 and beyond it will be a very dark day for us gamers. I am an XBox/XBox 360 guy myself, but competition only helps us all in the long run.Comment

Re: Analyst Says PS3 will be Sony's last console.
I agree, I don't discriminate when it comes to video games. I will own all 3 systems eventually, especially after there are some price drops on that PS3 in a year or two. But I want options everyone has their own "good" and "bad" ideas. I want to make the choice not have the choice forced on me b/c sony's not making a system anymore.www.simgamingnetwork.com Come join our leagues!

Re: Analyst Says PS3 will be Sony's last console.
Something to remember is that the 360 and the PS3 are branches of each respective companies entertainment division. Both companies do not exist to make gaming consoles. Sony will have to decide if the Playstaion brand is still making money, or if in 5 years, it's as if they have started over. If it isn't, then we'll se the Playstaion go the way of the Dreamcast.
For Microsoft, their positioning is right before the climax of their venture into this industry. That's not to say the 360 will indeed "peek" (which it is hard to argue that it won't), but Sony has had a decade of peeking, and the PS3 certainly does have a challenge ahead of itself.
I really believe Sony put too much into this system, making it a gaming console on steroids. If they simply maintained their greatness by building on the success of the history of Playstaion, instead of trying to topple the threat of the 360 with a beefed up PS3, I think they'd be better off in sustaining their reign as market dominator.
Bottom line, fanboy or not, Sony's console gaming dept. has its first major challenge, and that is the threat of the Wii and 360.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Analyst Says PS3 will be Sony's last console.
but then again, the xbox has never turned a profit yet, but still is a serious contender...so it's not like Sony could have just kept doing what they were doing. MS is serious about dumping billions and billions into the xbox, and eventually it will either kill off sony or give them the #1 spot. I just didn't want Sony to copy that.
Of course I just read that at launch there was a PS3 sold every 6 seconds on Ebay. The system is selling. EA is already reporting profits from it.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment
