Xbox 360 vs. PS3
Please dont turn this into a flaming argument about which one is better or anything of that sort. Just wanted to bring over and article I just read and looked through, that I thought was kinda interesting. Check it out.
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

COD3: 360 by a mile

FN3: PS3/360 (tie - both games really have their benefits with this game)

Re: Xbox 360 vs. PS3
Another site did this a few days ago. My problem with this kind of comparison is that the different versions of the games are shaded differently. The same game will look much better on the 360 in one screen and then much better on the PS3 the next just depending on how bright it is in the screen. Look at the third screen down on NFS. The car looks better on the PS3 but the streets and especially the rearview mirror look better on the 360 just because they are brighter and you can see what is going on. But the brighter scene hurts the 360 on the right hand side of that screen where the lit up the area around the buildings, grass or bushes or something. It looks better on hte PS3 because it doesn't draw any attention away from the street, but the 360 is more impressive because they actually rendered objects off in the distance that have no effect on the game.
IMO there isn't enough of a difference in the graphics right now to matter. And it is clear they don't handle the graphics the same way on the different systems, PS3 has better car models, but the 360 has better everything else, which is more important and how in the world do you choose which actually has better graphics? I can't.
Then you go to the next page and COD3 is brighter on the PS3, go figure. Right now it is all about how the developer programs the graphics, and it has almost nothing to do with system capabilities. I don't think either system is anywhere near running at full graphical capacity, until that point we will get games that only look different where the game companies want them to look different.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 vs. PS3
I own both a 360 and PS3. The games that look better on the 360 were written first for the 360 and ported onto the PS3, so the article is a little misleading. The best way to really judge both machines is to wait till next year when MGS4, VF5, Warhawk, Motorstorm etc all come out.
Then we can put them up against Mass Effect, Bioshock etc. The 360 has had a head start by about 2 years including last years launch. Both systems will we capable of some amazing looking games no doubt.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 vs. PS3
I personally like all the 360 games better, the PS3 looked washed out, to bright. If you read the article on the Madden one is says that the PS3 doesn't even cast stadium shadows, they had to check the game settings twice to make sure both were at the same time. They did mention that at a 4:15 game the PS3 had SOME shadows. Also you can actually see the texture of the close up jersey on the 360 where the PS3 is blurred. BUT ALL these games were developed for the 360 then ported, so that may explain it.

Re: Xbox 360 vs. PS3
that may be the case to some degree for several games. they are not all "ports" necessarily.
there is a distinct advantage to some degree in textures and lighting currently in the 360 games compared to the PS3.
It may be due to easier development on the 360 and better tools in which case the PS3 will show it's stuff when programmed right (Cell is a beast)or it could be that the hardware in the 360 (Xenos is beast) is better suited for lighting and polygon pushing and with the unified memory technically there is more room for in-game textures.
I think it's great to finally see that the PS3 is not ahead of the 360 in graphics and those early adopters didn't miss out on "Next Gen" by not waiting for Sony.Comment

Yeah I notcie that too lol. Maybe the PS3 is more update then the 360, having come out last. Does Jason have hair now?Comment

Re: Xbox 360 vs. PS3
Last heat game i saw (vs Clippers a few days ago) he had hair. Kinda stange but no big deal, just curious.
I think it seems that basically both consoles with be a wash when it comes to graphics and it'll boil down to which exclusives you prefer and which dvd option you want to pursue.
I know personally that here in Australia i have the choice of spending $500AUD to get an xbox 360 or $1000AUD to get a ps3. I know which one i chose (360) and think lots of people are doing the same.
The fact that i can get a 360 and a Wii for the same price as a ps3 makes the ps3 option even less appealing for me.....Comment

Can't help but remeber Sony's "Xbox 1.5" comments last year. Open mouth and insert foot.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx
