      well spending 400 bucks as a broke college kid isn't that smart anyways.
      no offense.

      and MS is now just as backwards as sony in terms of systems crapping out.

              I'm waiting on my 3rd 360 too I am really dissapointed in Microsoft right now, this is the only console I have ever owned that has broken for no apparent reason. TWICE! Oh well, third times a charm right? If not i'm giving up on MS for this gen.

                because people won't pay what it actually costs to ensure they work 100%. Image what a 360 would cost if they put in better parts and ran them through a stricter QA check..the PS# would look cheap right now.

                this is just a fact of life when consumers want a $400 console with top end technology.

                  You're only lying to yourself if you think the PS3 will be anymore reliable. When it comes down to it, I'm sure we'll see pretty similar failure numbers.

                  Sorry to hear MassNole.

                  Someone must've sprayed Holy Water or something on my launch console. Still, not 1 problem (unless MLB2K6's freezing is considered a console issue, but IMO that was a game issue).

                    Thanks. I shipped it out today via 3 day mail. It just dawned on me, MS making me pay for shipping is total horse ****. I'll gladly pay for the return shipping, but when I do so I am refunding them at their corporate bulk rate, not my inflated individual rate.

                      Except for the loud DVD drive, my 360 must have been watered down with holy water also.

                        Same but mine wasn't a launch console. One thing I hate is how freaking loud the system is but other then that, all good here.

                          I really dont find the system to be that loud. I dont know i never hear since i play with the volume a little up.
                          NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

                            My 360 just died for the 1st time. Got the 3 red lights. Luckily I checked the back and it was manufactured Dec 12, 2005, so it looks like MS will replace it for free. Of course the hotline just closed 10 min ago so I have to call them tomorrow.

                              I bet the PS3 has a significantly less failure rate than the 360. No, there's no proof, but there's one HUGE piece of evidence.

                              PS3 = 1 yr warranty
                              360 = 90 day warranty

                              90 day warranty on a $400 piece of electronics equipment? This is basically telling the consumer "we have no confidence in this product lasting".

                              Companies like Sony and Microsoft know exactly what they are doing when they pick the length of their standard warranties.

                              Just look at the number of threads this past year of people saying their 360 has died. These kind of threads are still constantly showing up.

                              That said the PS3 could be just as bad or it could be worse, but I doubt it given the length of the warranty. Sony feels their product will last, their testing obviously supports this and is thus reflected in their warranty.

                              Now, I need some sleep so I have the energy to pack up my 360 that I've had for less than 1 month and return it because it now refuses to play games.

                                I had a gear snap in my 360. And I refuse to pay $150 for a broken 360 to just get the gear. I'm tempted to buy a used 360 since its nearly the same price
