I think they're doing more than they have to. Anybody who broke a tv/window/etc with a Wii controller only has themselves to blame. I've never had the thing even slip out of my hand while playing.

I agree. Not that I've played the Wiiiiiiii, but I used to have this real action baseball game thing with a bat and a ball... bat never slipped out of my hand.

Even if it had, it'd be my fault, not the fault of the manufacturer. I think it's cool that Nintendo is just trying to improve its product.

Totally agree. Blaming Nintendo because people are letting go of thier remotes. Priceless.

They're getting a ton of bad press off of this. A local news commercial had the tease line "Nintendo recalls millions of faulty parts." And people I know who couldn't tell you the difference between a 360 and a PS3 by looking at them have been talking about it as well. Some people know the details about it only being a wrist strap, but most people just hear "huge Nintendo recall" and assume the whole system is screwed up.

Not really the kind of press they were hoping for after a very succesful first month on the market.

Definitely. I was at work Saturday and a couple people were talking about it. Its a wrist strap for crying out loud. Its not like its overheating or can't upscale properly. At least Nintendo has already addressed the problem.

Oh yeah, Nintendo is handling it very well, but they can't control how it is mentioned in TV reports, newspapers or on the net. If you watch Sunday Night football and hear "Nintendo recalling thousands of their new product" about 50 times during commercial breaks, but don't stick around for the actual news report, you are going to have the wrong idea.

Its unfortunate for Nintendo because it is a small problem that has to do with user interaction, not faulty hardware(360!), plus they are all over it in fixing the problem(took what, 9 months for MS to admit their launch consoles weren't built properly?). But in the end, the majority of the public is only going to hear "Nintendo, Wii, Recall" and jump to their own conclusions.

Well this didn't take long and I saw it coming a mile away.

Nintendo sued over Wii wrist straps

Class-action suit accuses publisher of selling a product that was "ineffective for its intended use;" court case to proceed despite voluntary strap replacement program.

[UPDATE] Publisher accused of selling a product that was "ineffective for its intended use"; Nintendo calls suit "completely without merit."

Couldn't the two other systems be sued under that as well?
