    PS3 Audio Help

I've got my PS3 hooked up with component cables and through the TV speakers I'm getting an ***load of line noise. Now through my 5.1 reciver i'm getting none. What gives?

Has anyone else had this issue?

Note: This is straight out of the box, no updates performed.

    As for the visual.

in the back ground is there a shade or hue that scrools from bottom to top?

Is it a buzz noise? That's what I got, and it had to be replaced...hopefully that's not your problem.

It's a buzzing noise, like line noise... I'm wondering if it's the power outlet in the wall creating the line noise. I'm half tempted to get one of those power supplies that cleans up line noise.

        I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!

My TV and the PS3 were on the same wall outlet. That's what's making the line noise. The PS3 is sucking it's 380watts while my TV is sucking the same. Skittles....now I've got to find another jack on the wall so they don't interfere.

as for the visuals in the back, not sure if that's line distortion or not.

I was able to get rid of the sound a couple times. But it always came back. The lines scrolling in the background never went away for me. I just called Sony and when I said the issue, after some crazy tests, I had to send it back.

Hopefully it doesn't come back for you.

I thought that was my issue, unfortunately it wasn't. I plugged it in a bunch of outlets, numerous TV's and even a different house.

                Glad your's is only interference.

it's not as bad as it was before... line noise and visual line noise. still noticeable though.... i unplugged it from the HD switch box I have.

It appears to be the HD switch box that i have that's causing pretty much all of the issue.

Extreme were you using HDMI or Component?

I'm using HDMI now, I was using component on my first system.

DX, don't forget man, EG has the same TV as you do. It can be a power consumption issue.

Right now I've got them both back on the same wall outlet. and the noise is pretty close to being gone as well as the visual line noise.

Im not using the HD Switch Box. as soon as i plug it into that, it all get worse.

I don't have a component switcher box anymore. I have a non powered one for the PS2 and Wii, since it passes 480p fine. I use a powered HDMI swtich that gives me no issues for my DVR/PS3. And my 360 is direct component into the TV.

                            You have the Sony 34XBR960?

I got my system recently and I also noticed a humming sound coming from my tv speakers. I use s-video for my PS3 and noticed a faint line that scrolls up the screen from bottom to top as well. So I checked my power bar where I have multiple devices plugged in and I fiddled with the PS3 plug by moving it a bit back and forward and left and right in the socket and I noticed the humming was gone but if I touch it slightly again it returns. As for the line I still see it but it is not really bothersome but I would like to know how to completely get rid of it. I am using a standard tv with a PS2 s-cable so I don't know if that would be part of the problem.
