360 freezing problems: help

I havent had any problems with my xbox until I started saving files from College Hoops 2k7. Now, all my games/ DVDs freeze. I called xbox support and while i was on the phone with them I got the dreaded 3 rings of death...they said they are sending an empty box for me to send my xbox in for repairs.....when i got off the phone the 3 red lights weren't there anymore and it started up just fine...went into the xbox dashboard and i heard a beep and it froze again...(and this was with no disc in the console)...any idea why this is happening?

You could have corrupted files on your HDD. It's not uncommon with 2K Sports games, that's why I shy away from their Sports titles even though they're very good. You could try the maintenace fix which will delete all game updates and patches or you could try reformatting your HDD but that means losing everything.

I would consider doing any of the above because chances are slim you'll get a new replacement system from Microsoft. Typically they're refurbed and were somebody elses headache.

Thanks for the advice, but can you or anybody else please go thru the steps to the "maintenance fix" and steps for reformatting my HDD (so then i would lose all my rosters and my franchises for everything????) Hmmm...dont know if i want to do this....but can someplease give me the steps anyways, i dont know how to do any of this stuff..thanks... ....and are these my only options here?

I just read somewhere that if my screen started freezing up with all my games/DVDs (and now its freezing up even without a disc in there) that my system may be overheating.....should i go out and buy an intracooler, or do you think its too late for that?

Don't bother with an intercooler. If MS is sending you a box, let them replace it for you.
