Working on getting a 360 for X-mas

When I asked my dad for a 360 for X-mas, he decided that he would give me the money to get one. However my brother keeps attesting not to get one since I don't have a HDTV, so he thinks I should get it later when I get a HDTV, which if I spend money on getting that, I wont have enough for a 360 and will have to wait a while to get one. He thinks I should get a mp3 player. Well I I got over $400 in my savings account, and my dad was gonna give me enough money to get the Premium. My thinking is with my savings and the X-mas money I'll probably get, I can save up for a quality HDTV.

Even though its my own decision, what would yall do in my situation, use my way or take my brother's advice?

Plus I'm thinking about getting a job after my winter break.

If your Dad is going to buy you a 360 and you don't have to pay for it, heck yeah man. Now you get to keep the money you saved and with your new job you'll have enough money for a nice HDTV.

It was reported that next year HDTV's could drop in price by 40 percent. The 360 will never look as good without an HDTV but it will look better than an Xbox on a Standard TV.

Yeah let him get you the 360. There is a difference between HDTV and SDTV with the 360, of course, but I can easily tell the difference even on my 19 inch SDTV.

I've read the same thing. LCD manufacturing capacity just jumped recently so LCD supply will increase (and prices will come down). Wait 6 months and get an LCD tv next year. I'd get the 360 now.
