If it's a launch system I think MS will replace it regardless.

What's the manufactoring date? If it's 2005, then you are good. Either way, wouldn't hurt to call them, and see what they can do since they did change the warranty from 90 days to 1 year.

thats not true, my freinds system died, and it was made at the end of october in 2005, they said if the system would have broke down in october of this year he would have been coverd, so I would check into this a bit more.

When my 2005 system bricked, I was told that ALL 2005 Xbox 360's would be fixed free of charge. Not sure if this is still the case or not.

I heard the same thing too, but last week my freind called up from work and thats not the case anymore, they told him he would have to pay $135 for them to look and rpair it, He even told them about them fixing it for free and they told him what I just post before.

I honestly believe it all depends on the CSR you get. The first 360 I had tore up, 1st person couldn't help me get it repaired for free. Called back, and they worked with me til i got it repaired for free. Got a refurb back that was made 10-24-2005. It bit the dust not too long ago, and got the "All 2005 consoles will be replaced for free since they were defective" routine from that CSR.
