The reason I ask is the 360 has had some great non-sports games that sports gamers have enjoyed. Oblivion and Gears of War are a great example. Next year Bioshock and Mass Effect (plus a little something called Halo) will be titles played by a lot of "sports gamers". Right now the three biggest advantages the 360 has is price, amount of good games coming out and Xbox live is still the best online service (good to know if you are going to play in online leagues or matches)

Re: What to do PS3 or 360?
I would probably go with the Xbox 360, unless MLB: The Show is an absolute must have title.
I agree with spongedaddy, the 360 has 3 advantages. Price, current games/games coming out, and Xbox Live which is hands down the king of the mountain when it comes to playing videogames online.Comment

Re: What to do PS3 or 360?
yes 360 can actually OUTPUT all games at 1080p (using it's internal scaler) but only a few games right now on either system RENDER at 1080p (RR7, NBA 2k7 and the GTHD Concept tech demo all on PS3).
Both systems will most likely end up with similar number of 1080p rendered games by the end of the generation is my guess.
it really may not be worth the trade off for either system actually.Last edited by Klocker; 12-28-2006, 11:19 PM.Comment

i got both but have to admit..have not turned the 360 on because of Resistance and the japanese version of motostorm...and i am pretty much a sports gamer! Have been using it recently also for mlb06 and nfl2k...eventually most diehards will have both..just a matter of time.Comment

and both versions run at 720p (PS3 and 360)

If I could only have one, having never played the PS3, I would choose the 360 right now. I'll probably buy a PS3 when the Show comes out as along as it's as good as the PS2 version from last year. I could live with some great graphics and just a few tweaks to the gameplay and roster control.NFL: Tennessee Titans
MLB: Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: What to do PS3 or 360?
I recently bought a PS3 so I also have both systems. I have to say that my time is pretty much dividied 50/50 right now. I play Resistance and NBA2K7 on the PS3. I used to have 2K7 on 360, its pretty much the same except runs a little better and I believe it is 1080i. 0 lThe only other games I play besides sports are online FPS. Resistance with 40 people at once and no lag is really sweet.
The main game I play on 360 since I traded in NBA2K7 is College2K7. I think right now that is my favorite game of the collection. Im getting Call of Duty 3 from Gamefly today, so I will check that out.
It's a really hard decision if I had to pick between the two. If money was not an issue and College Basketball was out on PS3 I would probably give that the nod. The 360 had died on me and I dont have the panic feeling with the PS3 like I do 360. But the 360 like mentioned before has the great online play. I guess that's why I have both lol..
BTW, I cant wait for MLB:The Show. I almost killed my PSP playing that so much. I might pick 06 up on PS2 to play on my PS3, since I never played it.Comment

Re: What to do PS3 or 360?
If any of the following are of exteme importance to you, get a PS3:
-Blu-Ray
-1080P resolution
-MLB The Show
-PS3 exclusives
Everything else points to teh 360 as being the better choice, inlcuding, but not limited to, the following:
-Price
-Will get the same sports games every year aside from The Show
-360 exclusives
-Xbox Live
If you play mostly sports and you can live without MLB The Show, then the 360 is the easy decision unless some of the technical stuff is really important to you. If you have to have The Show or you have interst in a Blu-Ray or the 1080P stuff, then go with a PS3.Comment

Re: What to do PS3 or 360?
Well e0820, have you made a decision yet? I still have not opened my 360. I just keep thinking of the Show, trying to ignore the College Hoops still in its wrapper.
Now, a couple of friends of mine that are hard core 360 guys, one of which is a converted Deucer, reap the accolades upon the 360, but again they are more basketball guys and baseball doesn't come into their thought processess.
This is a very difficult decison, especially if money is not an issue, meaning it is within your means to buy either system. Now if money truly wasn't an issue, we could just buy both systems, figure this all out ourselves, eventually sell off the other system, and be comfortable with the decison. This would be the best bet, but the PS3 shouldn't be purchased until its game library becomes a little more stocked, that in my opinion will not be until The Show comes out.Comment

Re: What to do PS3 or 360?
You're welcome. Comforting to know that there is someone else in the same boat. I really think I will dive into the 360 until about April, then see how the Show is on the PS3 and go from there. Actually, this is a good problem, it is nice to have a choice (unlike with football, but I won't go there).Comment

Re: What to do PS3 or 360?
Having Both Systems....
It's such a toss up. Once the cross platform games are on equal grounds frame rate wise, again, it'll be down to exclusives. The 360 seems to have more interesting ones this year without a doubht.
BUT, Baseball. It's your thing. The PS3 gives you two options, with one that's been quite fantastic on the PS2.
Once you put the 600 bucks down, in a couple months you won't really be thinking about it once your playing The Show, Resistance, and other games.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: What to do PS3 or 360?
Just wait to see how good MLB The Show is.
1. Madden, NCAA, and 2K games will be on both systems with the only differences being the bugs
2. Wait for MLB. Sony has had huge problems with transferring consoles. Gameday and Gamebreaker used to be the best football games, and then Sony completely ****ed them up. Wait to make sure they don't do it for MLB.
This is so true. The last time Sony tried to transition from PS1 to PS2 with their in house sports titles, it was a disaster. Betting that MLB 07 The Show is going to be worth $700 is not a wise bet, based on history.Sweet Mary Jane with eyes like the rain and alive to the sound...Comment
