    Xbox Live connection problems..

I feel like I'm flooding this forum :y4:...

Anyway, I was trying to play Call of Duty 3 on Live multiple times, and when I went to join a game, it always gave me a message that said "could not connect to all players". That message got so annoying and happened every time, so I took the game back. Now tonight after buying Halo 2, a few of my friends and I try to start a game. I got invites from each one of them to join the game, but I got a message that said "Sorry, we could not connect you to the party, there are network problems". It was just one of them, though. When he wasn't in the room, I got in fine, but once he was in I was blocked out. What's going on here? Is it a firewall or something that I can fix?

You are not alone in the "could not connect" world (Call of Duty 3). Happens to me and my friends a lot. I find I can join games easier when I attempt to join a game with minimal players. It's not the game it's the server. Not sure what that recent update was for. I thought it might have fixed those problems but alas, not the case. Not sure what to tell you about Halo 2, might have just been a temporary glitch.

Do you have a router? My CHoops 2k7 games were always a bit laggy and I forgot to forward the correct ports on my router. Now they are fine. Just made the 360 a static IP and made it the DMZ device. Could be causing your issue. You can actually tell it is a firewall issue. If you do the XBOX Live test there is a NAT test, it should say OPEN.

Check this the NAT if it doesn't say open then thats your problem. My buddys 360 could never connect to any games I would invite him to, but he could get in other games with no problems using quick matches etc... When he ran the test it said moderate, we changed some drivers for his router and got it to say open. Now we have no problems playing on live.

Yeah. Firmware + making it the DMZ should fix most problems unless router isn't compatible. Mine isn't on the list but it works fine anyway.

Where can I find this test? I might have to try this out.

Go to the system Blade(tab) at dashboard. Last screen to the right. In there you can to a connection test.

Ok, I see the NAT says "Strict", so how do I get it to open? What do you mean by changing drivers?

Get access to your router settings. You will see a setting called "UPnp" under the administration tab. Make sure this is enabled, then save your settings and reboot your router. You can open up each port individually, but this way is alot easier. I just had the same problem and this fixed mine.

Is there a way you could give me a walkthrough on that? I'm not finding "UPnp", or an administration tab for that matter, anywhere.

You access your router through your internet browser. Type "192.168.0.1" into your address bar. It should bring up your username and password. If you have not changed anything the username will be "admin" and the password will be "1234". http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/N101145.asp
