I found 2K to play a pretty realistic game of hockey and has my vote over NHL 07.

NHL 2K7 is bloated with features, yes. The rest of it - the looks, the feel, the last-gen gameplay, the animations, the player models and the commentary - is comparible to the chick on the left (see video below). NHL 07 looks and plays like the fun-loving babe on the right. That's good enough for me:
