Hooking up the 360 via VGA cable vs component cables ??? (plz help)

Ok......if i hook up my 360 via the VGA cable to my hd tv will it look worse than hooking it up via the component cable???

Or will it look the same??? (hopefully it will)

My tv is no 1080p.....only 720p and 1080i.

The reason i ask this is because my hdtv has 3 inputs that allow hd signals.

    1) The component input (which the ps3 and 360 share, i just keep swithing the plugs when i play each system)

    2) HDMI (Which my hd box is hooked to)

    3) and a VGA input (which is empty)

So, I wanna know if I will loose any quailty if a stick the 360 on the vga input. Therefor I will not have to keep switching cables around. All the things will be hooked up at the same time.

    Anyways.....any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

You won't lose anything. I would definitely hook it up via VGA just so you won't have to keep changing the cords.

Thanks for the help bro.....so i wont be losing any quality, thats what worried my as long as it looks the same as the component. I'll be happy.

The only thing is the vga port is on one side of the tv and the 2 audio ports for it (the red and white holes) are on the other end of the tv ???

Depending on your TV your VGA connection may give you a better picture than your component. Make sure you set your 360 to the your TV's native resolution in the video settings section after you plug the VGA cable in.

Ok....my tv is 720p native and i already have that setting set on my 360.

So the VGA could even give me a better picture???

As long as it's not worse than component....i'm happy.

the only negative i've heard about VGA is that sometimes the screen colours look washed out. so you may need to just adjust your TV a bit to make the colours less washed out.

You will have to set your resolution to 1280X720 once it's hooked up through VGA.

Is it always better to go with the T.V's native resolution? My T.v's native res. is 720p but with the VGA cables is it better to set it to the highest resolution, which would be 1080i for my T.V.?

I can't find any 360 to VGA cables or component to VGA cables in stores. I want the component to VGA and my friend is looking for 360 to VGA. Did you guys buy your things online?

Component to VGA? I didn't even know they made such a cable.

The cable is just a VGA cable for the 360. It has the huge connector on one side which plugs into the 360, just like the component cables, and the other side is a VGA plug in, instead of the red, green, and blue cable end.

I want it to output from my laptop to my HDTV. Would this be the right thing to make that happen?
