Re: GameStop To Acquire Rhino Video Games?
I've never heard of Rhino or GameRush.
Only EB/Gamestop and GameCrazy are the big ones here.Blind to this impending fate
We let the world carry our weight
It's back breaks with every mile
But we all live in denialComment

Re: GameStop To Acquire Rhino Video Games?
You guys have Blockbuster though, right? GameRush is just the gaming section inside Blockbuster. I guess it's not in every Blockbuster. They used to give some awesome trade in prices, then they'd add another $5 per trade. I used to find old games on sale for cheap, go there, trade them in, and end up making a decent profit. If only they would get the games in like other gaming stores, I'd still be going there.Comment

It's a done deal !
GameStop Goes On Safari, Acquires Rhino Games
Another smaller game retail chain bites the dust.
By Dan Dormer, 01/08/2007
"GameStop is continuing their Pac-Man style approach to acquiring the competition, announcing late last week they acquired the Southeastern-based games retail chain Rhino Games from Blockbuster. The total amount GameStop is paying has not been disclosed, but Blockbuster originally picked up Rhino Games in May 2004. Rhino Games has 72 stores in six states -- Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
John Antioco, Blockbuster chairman and CEO, said, "Today's announcement is in line with our goal to maintain focus on our Blockbuster-branded assets. We wish the Rhino concept ongoing success under its new ownership, and while games remain an integral part of our Blockbuster business, we will continue to focus on growing our overall share of the video rental market both through our stores and through Blockbuster Total Access..."
R. Richard Fontaine, GameStop chairman and CEO, said, "The integration of the Rhino group into the growing portfolio of GameStop stores will result in operating synergies while being accretive to earnings. The location of most Rhino stores do not overlap existing GameStop sites, and primarily serve secondary and tertiary markets where we have been very successful. Furthermore, the Rhino business model, and a very game oriented management team, will fit seamlessly into the GameStop culture."
And now their trade prices are nowhere near as lucrative. Oh well."Comment

Re: GameStop To Acquire Rhino Video Games?
I've got a Rhino games down the road from where I work that I've gotten games from, and one other somewhere else in the Huntsville area. If they change to Gamestop, that'll be like the 6th and 7th Gamestop/EB games in the area!
Atlanta Braves - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators

In my area, I had 3 EB's and 4 Gamestop's, when their merger happened, all the EB's closed.Comment
